I have an opportunity to get into a Speed Triple for the right money. But I am really happy with my Street Triple. I am only considering it cos its a mates, I know the bike, it has all the farkles I want bar one, and I know the history.
I was going to buy a Speed Triple when I bought my Street. But I test rode it and thought that my lack of discipline would mean my licence would last quarter of an hour.
Its brighr red too.
GAH.

Year?
They look stunning in the bright red.
And the Street will sell for a good price as they are popular.
The good stuff you already know.
Possible disadvantages? Weight, seat height, wheelies.......

If you can tolerate the excessive shrill cam whine of a Hinckley triple that no performance muffler can overpower, then go ahead and buy one.

It would be akin to me asking fellow KBrs if I should bang the blonde or the brunette cougar on my night out? Most would just say grab the one with the big tits wouldn't they...

Out of interest what is your mate replacing the Triumph with - possibly the revised 2016 version?

S`funny, I'm thinking of going the other way from a 1050, but a Tiger, to a STR. Haven't ridden one yet, but getting weary of big heavy bikes and change for changes sake seems appealing.

If you've wanted one for years... and a chance this solid isn't going to come up again... would you be kicking yourself if you didn't??

I can identify with this. Went from a Blackbird to a Street Triple and never regretted it. Currently riding a GSX-S 1000 but in all honesty, it doesn't offer me anything extra over the Street Triple, and I can see myself returning to a STR when Triumph have sorted out whether they are going to offer both the 675, 800 or both of them.

In most things bike related, ask yourself -
If I buy it and regret it, how much will I regret it?
If I don't buy it and regret it, how much will I regret it?
I frequently find it is better to regret something you've done, rather than something you wish you'd done.
Evaluate the above, make your choice, and live happy in the knowledge that whatever the outcome, you made the best decision at the time.

My only question is: Have you gained the discipline so yiour licence lasts more than a quarter of an hour ???
(Personally, I might make half an hour ... but then I blew off a Speed Triple from Turangi up the Desert Road and left him in my dust - I suspect NO BALLS on the part of the Speed Ttriple rider )

An inanimate object is owned. End of. If a home I had bought was listed as heritage after I bought it, think I'd burn it down.

Funny, I've never even noticed that. Only had the bike four years though.
Then again, at 100kph the loudest sound is usually the tinnitus.

Tiger 1050 is so quiet you'd think I would have noticed such a thing. Only six years so. . .

Best option is buy it and keep both for a few months, then sell the one you like least.

All high class bitches whine. And I believe it's the straight cut balance shaft gear.

I'd go with the above opinion that it's better to do something and regret it, rather than not do something and forever regret not doing it.
At least if you give it a go you know the answer, otherwise you'll be forever wondering.....

Any progress? I tried a Speed Triple before I bought the Street. Fantastic bike but it was a tad tall for me and carried its weight a little higher than the 675. No regrets on going for the Street.
