Some of you will be familiar with the work of Dr John Hinds, the Irish road racing doctor, he of the world's fastest first response vehicle. If not there is loads on YouTube - technical but also amusing. Sadly he was killed last year.
After his death a petition was started in his honour to get an air ambulance service for Northern Ireland. There had never been one, if they had an urgent job they'd get a helicopter over from Scotland. Which, when you think about it, sounds more Irish than urgent.
The British Chancellor has just announced that four million pounds that the government has collected from fining miscreant British banks will be used to set up an air ambulance service in Northern Ireland.
I hope they name some part of the service after the good Doctor.
