Just did a hour at sandpit Rimmer rd on a bmw f650 gs.
It was ok in the forests but hard work on the dry sand.
Can't tell you how happy I was when I found the road back to the car park.
The guy was seemed surprised I wanted to take the gs into the forest.

I don't think I'll do it alone again.

Anyone else taken there duel purpose bike or a big bike into the park?http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160325/f09f2ed9b7569f705d1b5bd602b2c35c.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160325/a1018e6b9931342d5dec3bed9ef58fa1.jpg

Been there on a Tenere 660 in the middle of summer,

Sandy bits were pretty hard work to keep the speed up to stop the front digging in, expect the winter to be better with a bit of rain.

Did you do any of the blue or red trails?

I have ridden there a few times, you just gotta love the sand. Learn to love the sand.

Plenty of fun can be had on the beach too, I normally go to the sandpit via the beach (or the way home tides dependent).

Blue & yello, then the road for the last 5 min to get out of the bush by 5 pm

Definitely a work out though, especially on the whoops section near the road, are you on the 690 ktm?

Yeah on the 690. I normally just take off the mirrors to save them.

The trail bike riders give you a funny look, but when you rip past them on the road on the way in/out I think they understand how it works.

Nice bike.
Was looking at a 990 in Palmerston when I got the GS.

Kind of wish I spent the extra bucks now.

The bmw is nice but its limitations make it boring at the same time.

Ktm will be my next bike I think
