An while Bugjuice is on the brakes theme, another question. The front disk on my GB400 is down to the stated minimum thickness of 4mm.
How soon should I get worried about this? :calm:
Where is the best place to get a replacement - new original, aftermarket or from a wrecker?
Is it easy to change it myself?

Replace as soon as you can. With new pads too. If the old ones are OK, keep them for later.
New = good + expensive *EBC.com or something*
Breakers = Might be good, much cheaper?
If you are going to keep the bike for a while, buy new, otherwise get second hand ones

Well I'm told they are now checking the disc thickness for the WOF. Haven't seen it done yet myself. Don at Cycletreads has some new discs in stock that seem v reasonably priced. Plus he'll have some used ones out the back too.

Ring Econohonda. Bloody brilliant guy who can do new and used parts. Discs will be straight too, not warped like you may get from some "other" wreckers around the place.

yeah, I'd change them sooner the better..
no idea for the best place to get a pair from, but I'd get them changed.
And it's not hard to do it yourself. It's just a case of whippin off the front wheel, the discs will be held on with a few tight-ass bolts (don't strip the heads), then just reverse what you've just done and presto.. just don't drop the bike with no front wheel!

talk to i think his name is greame, at Power Motorcycles, he's in Waihi but getting them sent up shouldn't be a prob, i've got him doin my zx6r for $300 each front, since they r floating discs he just removes the outer part of the rotor and machines up new ones to spec and sends em back, he also sells them on trademe http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/0001-0026-0135-2504-/auction-36871788.htm
