View Full Version : Bobbers - check your tail lights

Posting this after just having followed a chap until he pulled over... he was on a bobbed Harley, side mounted license plate, underseat light set. Stylish as hell but inclined to disappear behind the rear fender... honestly, following in my car, from straight behind him I had no view of the rear light at all. I only noticed him at first as a silhouette against something lit up ahead.
If you're on a bobber it might be worth having a mate follow you in a car, with a passenger, and get that passenger to take a few pics while you all roll after dark. Be sure. Yeah, there might be some pisstaking.
Nice guy BTW, he appreciated the heads-up.

Good on ya, there's not much more dangerous than a bike at night without a (visible) tail light.

Followed a scooter down the Southern this evening until he got off at Ellerslie and I finally got him at a traffic light. Told him he has a brake light but no tail light.
He says: "I know"
So keep riding at night?

Was he wearing jandels and his cap on back to front.

Seemed to be an older bloke (full face helmet!), with a dog in the box on the back...

One does not simply drive a big van in Auckland traffic unless you have to... plus it doesn't fit in client's parking garages in the CBD anyway... ;)
And it probably wouldn't have caught him either, he was going pretty quick...

Better step up your game if you can't keep up with a scooter on the motorway! :bleh:

Ha - lowered the drivers window in my car over the weekend to tell an adjacent driver the same - one light out. Reply was 'so?' Mine was 'enjoy your fine'
No wonder people die in their homes and no one notices for months ..........
