View Full Version : Track day leathers?

I'm looking at getting into track days in the near future so am starting to research the protective gear I will need. What I'm struggling to decide is whether to go for a 1 piece or 2 piece leather suit. They are a big investment so I'm leaning towards a 2 piece because its increased comfort means I would likely use them for road riding too and therefore get more use out of them. That said I don't won't to cut down on protection on the track. For those of you that ride tracks days would you recommend just accepting the cost and going with a 1 piece that will be just for track use or is a quality 2 piece still going to offer ample protection?

Try renting a set of 1 and 2 pc leathers to start with, then decide for yourself. If you're gonna do long days on the road, then I'd suggest a 2 pc for practicality. Provided the 2 pc set has proper connecting zips it's not an issue for the track.

I wouldnt say a 2 pce set is inherently more comfortable than a 1 peice ,or that a 2 pce offers less protection than a 1 peice.A 2 peice is slightly more user freindly for a road user.
Ie when you stop for a coffee or whatever you can take the jacket off.
Slightly easier /more convenient to put on or take off if slightly slower.

2 peice will be fine. Have ridden TD's with 2 eice for years, an have performed awesomely in the event of bins

Thanks for the responses guys. Sounds like a 2 piece will be ok for track work. I usually wear my textiles for longer road trips but figured if I have 2 piece for track days I could use it on the road as well so I didn't feel so bad about spending all that money it haha.

You kind of DO get what you pay for. Fit is key. and you want a full circumferential zip.

+1 for 2 piece. Full waist zip and you are sorted, then can use it on the road.

FYI You just look silly wearing a Onsie on the road. Unless you love the Poweranger look. And I guess it would be hard to poop if you need to.

Rubbish, you look no more a power ranger then some of the couloured two piece, toilet stops are the only disadvantage

2 piece is just way more practical, on and off the track. It also means you can change or replace the top or bottom to suit your needs.

:shit::facepalm:

A bright matching 2 piece still makes you look a wally. This I would agree.

I have a set of one piece leathers, size 46, or large. Going cheap but brand new.

...why not buy some leathers and go and play...it makes no difference to us...why the fuck do some people need guidance in such mundane circumstances...will you be back for an opinion from anyone...that's anyone... whether you should use a two piece zip up condom or a black heavily ribbed one...fuck the mother state...if you need someone to hold your hand then you may be in for a wake up call...just don't get Superman leathers and drink and eat too much, they look silly...

Talking of Condoms . Do NOT buy the ribbed one with the tickler on the end.
The ribbed bit works but the tickler is poorly attached and once detached ends up deep within the cavity it was penetrating.
An 85mm finger isnt going to retrieve something that was deposited 100mm plus deeper.

So yep surgical implements were required

Steady on mate, I was simply asking for advice. I have no experience with track days, other advice had been conflicting and these suits are too damn expensive to just go and buy on a whim. If you don't want to give any advice that's no worries at all but seriously why the fuck don't you just move on to another thread instead if wasting your time writing posts like that....
