I'm considering buying a 1988 dr200 that has a slight rattle in the back of the engine, but otherwise looks pretty good. It comes with a donor bike and a heap of spare parts and is a pretty reasonable price. Does anyone have any opinions on these bikes and does anyone know what the rattle could be? Usage will be trail riding and possibly some road riding in the future. Thanks for any input.

OK minus's, it will be slow dreary ride with woeful suspension and brakes and a million underlying problems that old dirtbikes have.
If you have access to more money but wish not to spend it, recalculate.
If you have little funds then maybe its worth a chance, but don't expect a 30yr old bike to be reliable especially on the road. Chances are camchain is noise but might need blades and new chain/tensioner.
I'm a miserable old git and anything can be fun if you have low expectations.
