Hey all, just joined tonight cause I was looking for what I needed to do to get my Motorbike Licence and came across this site!
Down to business, I'm ridiculously eager to start out riding and need to know what I need to do to get my Licence. I've been meaning to get it for years now but never managed to get around to it for many reasons.
I will be able to borrow my mates Moped and (maybe) eventually buy it off of him. I am aiming for a Kawasaki Ninja like his one day, one day..
Main reason for getting this licence is travel between Wellington and Linden everyday because the Train Prices will be going up soon and I'm on a strictly low budget.

Fixed it for ya.
OP look at NZTA Factsheet 28
use the search function on here to find more helpful info about gear, bike etc
buy good gear so it will last and cost you less in the long run
use CBTA to get your full license sooner
you will find regos haven't reduced due to ACC cost so it's more expensive although running costs are less.
All the motorcycle shops are there to help you. Ask questions no matter how dumb you think they are, every one has to learn sometime.
Plenty of things on here about starting out etc.
Leave group rides till you are comfortable at highway speeds. Unless you have a mate or 2 you can trust.

No I had searched around for awhile but like I said, I'm new and just needed a clear answer. I couldn't exactly find what I needed when I looked so god forbid I ask right?
Also thank you kindly, eldog for the useful info.
I will have a look now cheers.

Pretty bike, always liked the look of the intruders
My advice for new riders always is:
a. - make counter steering instinctual
b. - get in touch with your front brake
c. - ride like you're invisible
d. - don't become a statistic
have fun, be safe

Hey all, I'm on a strictly low budget.
If your on a low budget it's not as cheap as you think, things tend to add up very quickly, insurance, warrant, reg, helmet , basic protective gear ,wet weather gear, (riding in winter in welly,) just things to consider ,
