Yes, i could do a thread on the obvious....But this is regarding the excess invoices sent out recently. Those down here who've had a claim will know as they'll have had warning they were coming.
Look hard at the invoice...Ours said two claims, one of which was exactly 10% of the total and which was below the point at which they take a proportion so was liable for the $200 minimum..
We had written confirmation that both claims were to be treated as one.
Complained and had it corrected, saved about $100.

We've also asked for more info as in copies of Fletchers invoices to EQC. They're available if you ask and it's likely to be the only way you'll find out what was charged for. We're pretty sure already that Fletchers have asked for reimbursement for items we paid for...we'll see.

The recent agreement re repairs to pre quake standard vs "as new" could be interesting. we're looking at whether it's worth opening up the argument we had about house levels. They said pre quake, we didn't dispute it was out but argued it had dropped about twice previous amount due to the quakes...need more info on the agreement next.

So be warned, the invoices are up to the usual EQC standard - wobbly.

'As new' is not correct - EQC don't use that term it's 'when new' in their policy - typical shit NZ reporting in the Press newspaper. Either way thwy have some homes to reconsider .....

I find it odd that they did not insist on the home owner paying their excess prior to works starting. Good luck to them recovering them .......

Yeah, with the number which have changed hands since it could well be impossible.

I saw that the EQC spokesman was the "Acting CEO"-does that mean that they have finally sacked that slimey arsehole who was the CEO?

you spelt "cunts" wrong.

I am having sport with them presently about this very thing. They have not finished the job. OUr temporary repair to our water lateral (from the toby to the house downstream of the meter) has not been fixed. The five year old temporary repair is hanging in but fuck those guys. I cant get my driveway fixed until at least that is repaired. They want my money? They are like any tradesman: do the job, then get paid.

Its a wonder I have the energy to hate anyone left after five years of it.

But I do.

There "should" be a chain of Deeds of Ass. My question is: is it pass the parcel, or is it the claimant on the day that pays?

I'd read it as the first claimant pays. EQC were pretty clear that the excess would be asked for eventually so by making the claim you accepted pesponsibility for the excess.
But given that a lot of the people who claimed have sold and moved - without necessarily leaving a forwarding address - i can see the EQC seeking a ruling that it's the current owner's cost...

I seem to remember telling someone a long time back that they needed their nose rubbing in the shit that's gone on down here - it may even have been you.

You know nothing of the situation other than what you read or see in or on the mass media you disparage....fuck off.

I'm not surprised it's taken 5 years to get them to arrange for someone to come and fix it, when the same thing let go at our place we got a plumber to come and fix it and then waited 14 months for EQC to pay the bill, nothing to arrange but for some reason it still took that long for the invoice to find it's way through the assessment team.

Haven't seen an excess bill for the other repairs that were completed 3 years ago or our current house, or for the work that was done on the previous house that we bought and subsequently sold, neither claim was originally ours so I wonder where they've gone.....
