If someone paid a professional tutor for a course which included a test and failed that test by one point, should the person that failed feel pissed that the tutor then made light of the situation on social media?

The tutor should refund any monies paid, or at least a percentage of, as they obviously didn't do their job well enough if the person failed.
Then everyone else should take the piss out of how hopeless said tutor is on social media.

Well I probably know what you're talking about. The person wasn't identified in any way (except for the incident itself being identifiable to the person that failed) and wasn't making fun of the person and it wasn't the point of the post either (it was about the one point difference in failing or passing and the perspective of that)
I'm probably biased as I know the tutor, they have a heart of gold and definitely don't make fun of their clients.
I'm reasonably certain most see the humour in some situations they encounter during work...
edit: Do you know that it was instruction and a test? Might have just been a test and no reflection on their instruction... but hey, who cares about details?

The point of the post was to highlight the persons response when they were told that they had failed by one point, not about the one point difference in failing or passing and the perspective of that.

Only if the person was identified or vilified (?) in public.
If just used as an example (no id) then the person shouldn't feel pissed.
Who knows why they failed. tutor or lack of skill? or combo.
Only the person will know why. They should try again to not only pass the test but do as well as they can. It is only a test.
Making fun of someone in a group of friends/rellies is a usual pastime, it makes us laugh at ourselves.

Rambaldi is correct. Raw exam scores are converted to pass scores. A raw score is a score without any adjustment or transformation e.g. the number of questions answered correctly. The raw score is then scaled against a standard such that scores for all candidates are on a consistent scale. Say a yearly test has Exams, and one Year is more difficult than the next such that a score of 65% on Exam Year 2015 is equivalent to a score of 75% on Exam Year 2016. Then the scores (marks) on both Exams are converted to a scale so that these two exams have comparable results / scores. The US SATs are the best-known scaled exams - scaled so so they are equivalent over successive years even when the exam difficulty, and the raw scores, may vary.

The person that was failed by the instructor did NOT have a tanty, where you got that from I have no idea... it was not the case.
All the learner said was ...''so I missed by one''? failing 26 times instead of 25 (25 would have been a pass)
The humour apparently was that the leaner thought he had missed by 1 not 26. The flaming of his character that followed was child like.
For a professional person to post something like in my opinion is not the done thing.
You really should read what I have said in total not partially and then you may understand a bit better.
but was the flaming done by the person you are so aggrieved with? Perhaps the post on FB was deleted because the person posting it saw that flaming was taking place, it was not their intention to make light of the situation and thought it best to kill the thing dead.
Must say Maha, you never struck me as a Shylock until now. The posting is gone and you probably won't see its like again from that person, time to move on perhaps?

Failed by 1....Surely you are taking the piss?
Being allowed to be on the road after failing by 25 is a disgrace to the system
failing by 26 is a disgrace to the person who failed .
If that person thinks he only failed by 1 means he has got very fuckin low standards, and no intention of trying to be the best he could and should be.
Fwiw....when i sponsored and coached my children through their licencing i did not accept 1 single fail.
If they could not take driving/riding serious enough to get it right, i sure as hell couldn't take it serious enough to sponsor.
The person who failed should stop worrying about his tutor taking the piss
He be better of taking a bloody good look at himself.....

You'd have to forgive a man his grammer, facing such trauma as being made fun of on the internets.

Having read the original post by the tutor in question, all I can say is that there was nothing wrong with it. The individuals' name wasn't mentioned, and the focus was on the person perceiving they failed by 1, when in fact the fault count was 26 when only 25 are permitted. Geez you gotta draw the line somewhere.
Would be the same if someone topped 100 demerits for rolling thru a stop sign, and these points were the ones to lose the licence on. Be like saying loss of licence for rolling a stop sign?
One could almost infer the OP has an axe to grind with the tutor in question...:shutup::innocent::woohoo:

Like others that have posted here, your assumption of why I posted this is 100% wrong. If I had an axe to grind or what ever, surely I would have used his name?
I know who he is but I don't know the guy, Instructor told him that he had not passed and he replied '' so I only failed by 1 then''? This was posted on FB and the comments that followed were all about the students so called interpretation of his fail..ie: ''You may have saved his life'' was one '' Glad he is not on the road with the rest of us'' was another, there were more. I just thought that it was unprofessional of the Instructor (given his position) to post it in the first place. He did actually only failed by one point but that somehow turned him into someone who shouldn't be on the road.

No he failed by 26 points,
he failed to pass the abysmally low treshold of 25 fails.
he failed the attitude test by commenting on the fact that he only had one fail to many to pass.....
If he can't even manage enough motivation to pass an almost idiot proof "test" he should definitely not be on our roads.
The instructor showed great restraint not to take the piss at a level worthy of this dweep.

He was one point under the pass threshold, so Mibbee it is failing by one. But that one is of no more significance than the other twenty five. What is a perfect score? Because twenty five wwrong is a fucken hell of a lot.

So it's perspective. Which was the point of the post.
Some would say you only failed by one. Others would say you made 26 mistakes.

The whole 25-26 point thing was NOT the reason I started this thread, why is that so difficult to understand? It was the reason the Instructor started his thread.
You know him personally, was the post on FB removed because of the comments that followed? or did he realised it may not have been his best move to date? must have been one or the other.

Almost like the KB of old (except the personal attacks are pretty mild now)
The irony of it all for me is this:-
If after (supposedly) completing a course of instruction, the student gave 26 wrong answers, what does that say about the standard of instruction received?

This is what happens when children are raised to believe that there are no winners or losers in life.
Real life suddenly kicks them in the teeth & they are flabbergasted that in spite of completing the test they didn't get what they came for & a tanty is packed accordingly.

21 sales in January of this year. Two in our street in the last month ...it goes on. Just have to be realistic.
The local agent was awarded top seller within her company for 2015.

If you take my statement at face value, then by dissing the student, the instructor was actually dissing himself i.e. the opposite of what he said.

While I did appreciate her property investment "advice" it proved more lucrative to invest in A main centre. But I'd say that's not a bad result for her, given she doesn't return calls & talks over people on the phone, becomes condescending, dosent ever update her TM listings, & explains to people that she has no idea about that "that shows how little you know about property investing" as well as possessing virtually zero class.
You were great, but it was her that ultimately cured us of the district.

Your understanding is flawed. There was no attitude by either party. For the 35th time, the student acquired 26/25 on his/her road test and was told of this, student asked ''so I missed by 1 then''? where is the attitude?

So if a person fails by 1, does this automatically permit him/her to regard themself as a "one percenter"?
When I did my working at heights/ropes and harness training, I nearly walked out before it started. The instructed gets up and does the normal speal, and tells us the facility has a 100% pass rate. I misunderstood and thought he meant you needed a perfect score to get the endorsement on your high risk license. But no, everyone passes it turned out.
That sounds perfectly correct. The funding for the course will presumably be based on pass-rate percentage.
Welcome to modern society and dumbing-down of standards, to meet the needs of the brain dead.
