OK folks here in KB, the plight of the FBMC group has been messed with for a second time.
So for the moment we are making use of KB's online status and keeping in touch with one another and anyone else who would like to come along with us on our planned and not so planned rides.
So please bear with us and just add what you'd like without getting too bloody minded, the FBMC has been around for a number of years now and isn't going anywhere except for rides and to destinations where we can all gather and enjoy ourselves, if this sounds like you, let us know and we'll arrange an interview and a bit of a grilling and maybe we'll let you come along once in awhile.

Na, we're a friendly bunch of nuts and love having new folk come join us for rides and social events.
So fill ya boots, enjoy our talk and our extremely banal chatter and if it pushes your buttons come along and see how it's done.

i was once a fat biker, but i changed email address and went and updated it in fat biker and got kicked out so now im just a fat biker who's no longer a fat biker. by the way, the best pies and donuts are the tea rooms at reefton, good old fashioned fat biker tucker.

Some of the "Fat Bikers" are getting rather slim these days! But they still have FATTITUDE so that's all good :D
The fatties page sure has taken some grief with parts not working and some not being able to log in, and no one being able to join..... Oh well it will get sorted again sometime but rides need to be done while it gets sorted :P

Well, I'm supposedly a Fat Biker. Even though I only weight 66kg at present and fight to keep that much on. I guess being partial to a pie and a pint kind of qualifies one for membership, yes? Oh and riding miles to get to such fare as well I suppose.
You can get quite good pies in Otorohanga by the way. Down by the bus stop. Steak mushroom and bacon is pretty good...:love:

Maha, not quite mate, not quite, while the FBMC is happy for anyone to come along and ride and participate in the social aspect of things we do nowadays have a standard that we like to keep, seems everyone who has come along of late are all bloody good sorts who have fitted right in. That isn't to say we'd hesitate to decline someone who breaks the unwritten rules of group riding etc a thing that has occurred in the past, we have a pretty good record of getting everyone where we're going and back again without being too picky.

Good to hear Mark, seems it may be better organised than once was. Word from some who had left in the past was that at times it was like juggling snakes, but maybe they could have been part of any issues.

Its nice to ride with people that don't live on there phones at the stops! The down side is I forget to take pictures as we are catching up in person so less ride reports from the outings... pics or it didn't happen and all :P
Some of the "Fat Bikers" are getting rather slim these days! But they still have FATTITUDE so that's all good :D
I'm certainly one of the slim ones these days, but trying to get back up there by slowly increasing pie intake.

Personally gutted that the Turangi truck stop is no more. That was a regular stop off for a nosebag

Boscos in Te Kuiti is an awesome place to stop.
Village Cafe' in Pirongia make wonderful homemade pies.
The old Pub in Bennydale is now a great Cafe'. A must if you're every down that way. Pic 1

Big Jim's just north New Plymouth is another, the plus being you have Mt Messenger and the Awakino gorge to ride through getting there from the north.
Though you probably know of all these places?

Whakamaru Cafe is not a bad spot to stop, plenty of parking. Some say they make the best cheese and onion sandwich..
Bennydale we went through in Feb but didn't stop, Might have to next time. Some nice roads through there
Pirongia was last months stop but we just had quick bakery stop, cafe might have been better as the flies outside the bakery were a little of putting
Te Kuiti we usually stop at the dinner beside the BP the other end of town, Might have to take a look in there...
People please do share the great eating spots as I am always looking for new spots to head too :D
Not to worried if service is not super fast as we are never in a hurry.... as long as there are good roads to travel and a nice place to sit (IE Like Nikau caves cafe)

Pretty sure we stopped at Dixie Browns on the way to Napier...Bar type cafe? Is that where they have the row of food spots across from the waterfront where they have the big area of tables?
Done that area a few times from the different food outfits.

Springs Flat Road House on SH1 at Kamo (the one with all the trucks outside) do a good one (and a cheap big brekkie)-The Bakery at Paihia does a good pie.-The Country Kitchen at Kaitaia has the most amazing variety of food at unbelievably cheap prices-pork crackling for brekky anyone-their pies are good but their other stuff distracts you.

Apart from the pies Nelsons Bakery is interesting, the building is a registered historic place. You don't notice it from the main street but the old part out back looks interesting, but it's a working bakery not a tourist spot so you don't get to see inside.

Neil and his wife are from Cornwall. Came here about 10 years ago and started making pasties in their kitchen to sell at the Cambridge farmers market. A big business now but their beef pasties have remained traditional and good. Not a big fan of the other flavours, except for the one they do at Christmas with turkey, stuffing and cranberries.

the Aparima tavern used to do a really good muttonbird pie before it burnt down, not sure if the new owners have continued with them now that it is re-opened but i was talking to the owners of the colonial bakery in invercargill the other day and they are going to look in to making one :woohoo:
they already make really nice pepper-steak pies, beef bacon and mushroom pie, bacon and egg pie, steak and mushroom pie, steak and kidney pie,I don't do chicken pies tho (those things will kill ya) so no idea what they are like.

I'd say the FBMC, needs to get back to it's own forum pages ( which are now up and operating again, no thanks to other people who just can't let things go) and that KB is here for all to say what they'd like without initially meaning to offend or upset others, having a bit of a stir is SOP here jin, but to say what you did isn't kosher without knowing something of the history of both the posters to whom you refer.
That is a subject on which I AM expert, both are friends and always will be, you ain't, yet ( I never throw people to the wolves on their first transgression) but I don't give a damn about offending or upsetting you, so call it as you see it all you want, but don't get your panties in a knot when I call you out.
