I'm after some Suzuki GT250 wheels, the older spoked wheels not the X7 mag wheels.
Failing that, I'm after something similar such as RD250 wheels.
Located in Auckland for pick up but happy to pay shipping.

Thanks for that Husa. There's none of any of those around for sale in NZ currently though hahaha.
TDR wheels look like great wheels but really wide! Trying to replicate the late 60s/early 70s race bike look on my GT250 (loads of cutting and welding to polish this turd).
Would actually prefer terrible drums because it's just a chill street bike but starting to look at old solid single disks now for lack of supply.

Thanks Neil, will keep that in mind. Would prefer not to build a set of wheels but it might come to it.

Yup. Just gotta find some now <_<

Maybe find a chook chaser rear say XT250 or XL250 as they have a 2.15-2.5X17 with a alloy rim
CB250RS had from memory 1.85 and 2,15 18 with a rather nice slab sided rim (but a disk at the front)
321668321669
they had pretty decent forks (about 35mm)for the time as well.
If you can't find a decent 7-8 inch drum ie GT or YDS7 Then a GN250 front drum they were 2ls
I have a 8 inch 2LS rear (but you are not getting that.):msn-wink:
Have you seen this thread?

If you could find a decent T500 hub on Ebay USA me and Grumph know a guy (that used) to do Fontana replica brakeplates
last time I talked to him he still had a few machined left, I don't know where they went or who had the mould.
if you plan on keeping the bike and are dead set on a Drum I would just keep looking on Ebay for a Grimeca 2ls or 4ls.

I was just looking at a GT750J front, be about $1000 by the time it got here, I gave 2 of them away years ago
T350/GT380 were also 2LS

Some of the 550's also had the 4LS but they are overkill.

Yeah the Suzuki middleweights all had pretty much the same brake.
The under 250's like the GT125 and 185's had a 6 inch 2ls
But the T500 was a bit bigger, with a nicer classic hub shape.

At 3 x the price ? fuck that, wrong size anyway
Most common mod is a 2LS out of a later Triumph

Yeah half width, if I could find one at reasonable cost I'd probably do it, the fork leg needs modifying to suit though
You can buy a 2LS off ebay for about $250NZD +postage

There are both 7 and 8 inch half width hubs. You should have the 8 inch front.
Best 2ls conversion is the post 68 BSA/Triumph backplate with the cranked levers giving a cable pull straight up the forks.

Those 2LS backing plates also fit the latter conical hubs and look heaps nicerer. That's the setup I have in my Briggo Jawa and it works well.

What he said, there is also a 2ls for the 7 inch hub, I'm not sure what bikes had that, but I have seen them.
Edit
the smaller 7” version was used on the smaller “C” range T100A, Daytona etc. and some BSA models 1968-74.

Yeah, just measured and it is 8 inch, uses a torque arm which the Triumph brake doesnt, I'll have to check on the A10 forum and see how they adapted them
Now who do I know that is a talented machinist and likes fucking about with old bikes to knock this up for me :msn-wink:

I am pretty sure the scramblers had the 7 inch half width, likely the smaller BSA models as well.
the A65 Spitfire and lighting has the correct lower legs for the 2ls likely the BSA and Triumph brakeplates are slightly different as Grumph said there are variations on the levers and fixings depending on the year.
that said you might as well upgrade to real two way damping at the same time.
I seen in a old mag a hub converted to a mini based hydraulic set up. It was supposedly able to lock the front at 60MPH.

I have already sussed out a cartridge conversion, not sure If I'll go quite that far yet, the Eddie Dow damping set up is cheap enough
Opps fucked that up, bid on the TLS Husaberk put up and it's not actually the one I want

Remember Peter P's starmaker AJS ? I used a '68 backplate in that with an added pickup point for a torque arm. Weld it in, clean it up and paint it. Who in the current WOF system would know it's not OE ?

They also do it by adding or extending a lug on the fork or backplate so the torque arm isn't needed

No one, I'm counting on that if I do the conversion

If it's the one husa put up, it's going to fit. Yes, torque arm mount to go in, yes it has the straight levers which mean the cable sweeps back.
Otherwise it's good.

I know it will fit as I have seen them fitted to A10 before
I would just rather have the other type as it looks tidier, probably weld a lug on the fork leg and do away with the torque arm
