Yamaha putting their 320cc twin into a WR250ish frame is being discussed. I hope Yamaha are reading the same stuff as me.

could happen...
but KTM has found a niche in the market... more focused bikes...
where the japs look at the bigger picture , wider market appeal...
japs sit on there bikes for years "KLR & DR650"
Yamaha's XT660 range has gone only because they won't meet the
new Euro4 coming in ,in 2017.... why all the new yamaha's in the wind
