OK, here is my question, if i got an r6 which has side pipe, can any place take the pipe underseat ???

Does that mean you understood the question? Is this from years of interpreting Gubmint nonsense?
I read it, re-read it, pondered it, read it again, and still couldn't fathom it.

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth...trade it in for the 2006 model, it look's hot!!

Yes.
No.
Somewhere that makes their own stainless steel zorsts should be able to make you up a new connector pipe, cut and bent to fit. However, as Zed said, it probably won't fit under the seat without modifying the undertray significantly, and maybe having a new one made out of sheet aluminium or whatever. The new connector will have to clear the swingarm and shock, so will doubtless need some imaginative bends in it, and wil be longer than stock, reducing power at low to mid-range revs.
Plus you'll need a heatshield made up and fitted as well.

Is it worth it, for what is essentially cosmetic (and may end up looking bodged-together anyway)?

Thanks ZED. All i was wondering is if i can make some difference on it. Thats all.

Other people on this site have said good things about 'custom chambers' in East Tamaki. Dunno the number, but do a search of the site for contact details.

They might be a good starting point.

Thanks ZED. All i was wondering is if i can make some difference on it. Thats all.I'd stick with the side muffler dude, leave it the way the designers made it. Have you got an aftermarket muffler fitted at present or just stock standard?

Ah, I am going to do said modification to my bike, just need a custom contecting pipe if you have a shortarse can, CC can do them relatively cheap so I would chat to them.

Dunno why but people around here resent bike modifying dont know why.

That underseat exhaust routing cost the manufacturers 100s of thousands of dollars to develop. It isn't simply, "ooo look me fit longer pipe with u-bend."

It actually has a net negative effect on power output as the length of the pipe is really important. Those bends stop efficient gas flow. Why do you think the current king of litre class horsepower, the GSXR1000K5 has a side exhaust? Inlet and exhaust work in concert and changing them will need some significant dyno/fuel mapping work to get it running nicely across the board.

The undertray needs significant heat shielding and you'll toast your arse in summer.

John - why modify a bike to make it slower? Guys like Kevin Cameron, really top class engine tuner with a huge brain and stacks of engineering knowledge said he was stumped as to what he would change about the internals of a GSXR1000K5 engine. There's always stuff you can do to make an engine breathe better. Bigger airbox, free flowing muffler with no catalyst, but the law of diminishing returns kicks in fairly quickly with brand new bikes these days. Better to spend dosh on suspension mods if you want to go faster A to B.

Yes I have actually. Have you heard of attractive packaging so the insulation doesn't look a big ball of Batts stuck to the bottom of the bike?

These kinds of projects look feasible but you should always start by estimating the cost, doubling it, multipling by the nearest factor of 7 to your age and then only starting the project if you have sacrificed a family member to Loki, the Moon, Venus, Mercury, and Mars are in a conjunction, and it's Autumn so you have 6 months of dodgy weather ahead and you won't miss too much riding while you're in hospital recovering from lower limb injuries caused by your imploding wallet.

John - why modify a bike to make it slower?

Simply because you modify the bike to suit yourself, choppers were a form of individuality your own touches and such fuck bikes are fast enough you dont need that sort of shit done if your only playing around on the road, so WHY you ask? because I want to be different sorry if you like to conform and be another number.

James Deuce

And I don't want invalidate my warranty, or make my bike less safe either. I'm not against modifying bikes at all and have done so in the past and will do so in the future. But I spend money on making it go round corners better and getting the power to the ground better. That's my expression of individuality.

Here's a better idea, cut out the whole sub section frame, and make the exhausts the rear end!!! :headbang:
But your looking at bare minimum cost of fitting an underseat exhaust?
- Exhaust $1500+
- PCIII $1500+
- + 1 hour (min) on a dyno.......
Do it!, then remove those horrible fairings and make a proper Streetfigther :ar15:

underseats are crap for power....have a shorty made and have it finish under the belly of the motor...they will be the bee's bollacks in the next few years....and great for power!!!

I like the look of this.....I do too, the new R6 is the winner in my books for the best new looker, exhaust, front shape, etc. I just hope someone releases an add-on kit to tidy up that ridiculous hanging tail. Though I will say that that rear is a practical idea for easy track day removal! :headbang:
