OK, so I bought this bike a few weeks back as a non-runner. After some testing, I've determined one coil is definitely stuffed - primary coil tests at around 1 ohm, no spark. I'm getting spark from the other coil.
So I thought just to be sure I'd switch the good coil over to the other side, and suddenly I'm not getting spark.

The CDI box was unplugged when I got the bike, but I'm not 100% sure I'm plugging it in correctly. All the info I'm going off from online sources is specifically for the GSXR400, mentions only one CDI box, but this bike has two, back to back.

Can anyone who owns or has worked on an impulse confirm that it's supposed to have two seperate ignitors for the two coils?

Not sure if this is any use but a friend of mine gave me a copy of the service data for an impulse the other day. Here's a link to the file in my Dropbox. It includes a wiring diagram which may help

Any chance you could do me a small favour and let me know what model battery your impulse has?
I've just bought an impulse to turn into a rat bike, plenty of work needed but should be ready by Cold Kiwi!

Thanks for that, nice info. Mine seems to be a bit unique in having two seperate cdi units. That wiring diagram shows a single unit just like the gsxr400.

Weird. Might just rewire my plugs to match the diagram and see if that works.

Could you possibly get a photo of your cdi connectors?

Battery is a Yuasa YB10L-B2, but I've swapped it out for a Motobatt MB10U glass mat type which fits nicely.

Mine definitely only has a single igniter, and the loom seems to be original if that helps.

Cheers for the battery info, one of the things mine was missing so now I know what model I need.
Not the only thing missing from mine but is should make a good rat bike for the Cold Kiwi

any chance you could get a photo or just write down wiring order for the plugs in case I need to rewire mine?
