Hiya i own a 1999 ag100 and do a few rides with friends and i cant keep up withe the bigger bikes like xr250's (obviously) and I cant afford a new bike and wanted to know if there are any mods that will give me any more power?

For easy country/road use you might get away with a reduced rear sprocket size, But clutching at straws really, a xr 250 is an xr 250, and a Yammy AG100 is always going to be an AG 100.

If you have the time an AG 100 responds to hot up quite well. BUT you will need to know what you are doing, try Gordon Jennings Twostroke Tuners Guide, old but relevant for that age engine (first built in the 70's). Larger carb, reeds, porting work (lift the barrel) and most important an expansion chamber. Done right you could be looking at around 20HP, probably more than the XR:lol:

If coin is tight new cogs for the sprogs will be the go.
Re gearing your bike with sprockets may be the cheapest mod here...Your bikes is a mountain goat made for carting fat Fred Dagg Farmers with home killed mutton and Tui beer packed arses over hills swamps and dales.
Up one or two teeth on the sprockets front or back may help give her 'Longer legs' while keeping her offroad charm.
Beware though no more billy goat hill climbs after this mod.:Punk:

yip mx100 cylinder or just some judicious metal removal Rd250 reeds and 28mm carb.
then add a better silver plated big end piston with thinner rings etc
Only problem is then the AG gears are too far apart
Pete Sales was selling some bits a while back including I think a dt or MX100 bottom end with a semi tuned cylinder.

I posted a few tuned port maps for them ages ago.
Only thing is then you still have crap suspension and brakes.
You would be better off to save and buy a faster bike, but not so much fun.
can you not find an 125 air cooled?
Oh well if the price was right. I will have a look for a RD Yam reed Valve and reed Rubber unless you have you got any. MY RD stuff is at the old mans but i think there is only plastic ones there though you really need alloy ones as they are ment to be better.
I have a map of the Porting for the GYT kit somewhere I think. no clymer
The mx100 had a closer ratio box from memory.yes it did

Turns out it is a clymer hot up but i will post it anyway it is old but a start. The MX100 has a 26mm carb vs the DT100 22mm
The thing with Yamaha's is better parts from the hotter models can be fitted, but more so for the 125cc bikes.
Make up a semi decent exhaust and it will fly

If you spent the time that you would need to hot this up, working for coin, you could afford to upgrade to a bike that ticks all the boxes. I understand the need to hot things up yourself however, so do what you need to. Should be a fun factor either way.

I know it's a shit old bike but you can learn a lot hotting up something like this and costing bugger all. If you fuck it all up, big deal, find another one and start again (but don't make the same mistakes). That's how we all learn't.

to akzle lol i thrash this thing harder than anything round corners i can keep up withe the big bikes but its always full throttle everywhere just want a bit more pick up

That was my point. Did you not fully read my post?
Anyhow as said, MarlinHemi, there must be tons of info on here and google re getting a pipe to start with, or making your own?

I understand your needs.
I have experience.
:
1.FIT NEW TYRES.
In any sport this gives the major performance advantage.
2. Strip the bike down to the beer essentials! ...to save weight and bulk.
3. Add new oil to forks and up the level to give you a bit harder suspension. Crank up the rear suspension if it has adjustability.
4. Try de-restricting your exhaust somehow. Take the baffle out or take the end cap off. Check for restrictors at the head port.
5. Clean your air filter and maybe drill holes in your air box for better breathing.
6. Check for restrictions in the carb and inlet tract. You may have to alter carb mixtures to enable your mods.
7. Service your bike. New oil. Look over it and tighten bolts etc etc.
8. Up the gearing. Bigger front sprocket and a smaller rear sprocket.
9. RIDE WITH ATTITUDE !!

If you need to ask, you would be better off to get someone else to do it.
a dremel and a die grinder plus some riffle files
But you would be better off to ask Pete Sales as I originally suggested.
Its very easy to make it slower 1 mm the wrong way can ruin one.
On the other hand there are plenty of Ag100 cylinders.

I was hoping there would be some other magic tool that wasnt a file. What Im doing isnt really relevant to this thread but it is a GP100 I have been playing with, the duct work was easy enough with a dremel but just trying to fit something into the bore to widen the rear transfers is a bit of a mission.

Or heat file to cherry red, bend file, then heat file to red again and quench in dirty engine oil.
