a move designed to "give responsibility back to motorists". Are they crazy?

Everybody in NZ knows speed kills, The Gubbamint has said so.

its not the speed, its the rapid slowing down....

The last couple of times that we passed that way, we were cruising at less than 100 kph for economy reasons and so everyone went past us.

The intriguing thing was that I doubt anyone was doing more than the old speed limit.

How many actual corners are there on that road?

none I think, unless you count avoiding camels walking across the road @_@

Long straight sections of road - if peeps can't drive at a decent .... they fall asleep.

Got pulled over once west of San Antonio.... was doing 130 something km/h.... policeman said it was the deadliest section of road in the state, because people fall asleep. I said - no wonder with a speed limit that slow (for such open roads - ~112kph). Now I believe that same section of road is up to 130kph..... probably wouldn't have received a ticket if the same thing happened today.
