how hard would it have been to just let the bitch in though and get on with life :baby: I skipped through it with no sound so unless I missed something in the dialog the bike should have gunned it or braked to let them in IMO

I wouldn't have been fighting with the car either.... but she was either not paying attention or being stubborn. Surprised the cop jumped on it that fast though.

biggest problem with people having cameras on their shit, is they think the world cares, so they go post it up waiting for some hugs because their safe space was intruded upon in some way or another --- ironically me posting on here is not any better

Wherever that was filmed it would seem that the cops are actually interested in road safety. It probably wasn't New York.Definitely wasn't here.

Have had this happen to me any number of times, in the car and riding my bike. Its infuriating at best. It can be dangerous for a rider.
I had one very interesting experience at a lane merge, it was "my turn" and I was ahead of the car I was going to merge in front of, a guy in a Skyline. Traffic was moving slowly but steadily, but he decided he wasn't going to let me merge and instead kept coming further up along my left, squeezing me between himself and the median barrier. There was no room for me to accelerate so I was left with no choice but to back off and let him through. I sounded my horn to register my displeasure. That was probably my mistake. I sat behind the guy for another couple of kms until I was getting closer to my turn off. He turned off ahead of me as traffic stopped for lights, got out of the car at the roadside and made it very clear he wanted to fight. By fight I do not mean use harsh language. I ignored him and took my turn off and proceeded along the 50kmh stretch to home. This was about 6km long. The guy in the Skyline caught up and tailgated me the whole way flashing his lights. The last thing I wanted was for this moron to know where I lived. Along the way a mate has a car workshop. I pulled in, right in front of one of his workbays and yelled for him to bring something long and metal. As the guy in the Skyline slowed to come alongside me he saw my mate coming with a big fuck off wrench in his hand and me pointing towards him (Mr Skyline). He remembered he had an urgent appointment elsewhere and left a bit of rubber on the street as a momento.
I sometimes use a helmet mounted camera when on roadtrips, did I wish I had one running then? Too right! Would I have gone to the cops with the footage? For sure. I have reported drivers before for dangerous or intimidating behaviour to *555. My experience of that was not encouraging. If you have video evidence then things are harder to ignore. Look at the bicycle rider in Wellington recently.

I have become a bit more mellow these days, sure it irks me when other road users do dumb shit but I remind myself to not get annoyed and let it go. I know people who do that kind of thing are arseholes, I have no need to prove this to anyone. I am more interested in getting home in one piece.

Yeah. Sorry, over reaction from the biker. Or to put it another way, I wish my riding was such that I felt that reaction was warranted by a minor zip merge fail.

There are homosexual riders, I don't see how his sexuality had anything to do with it.

Classix example of why serial GoPro wearers actually create their own dramas, I wouldn't be surprised if this guy has a drawer full of Lycra and a road pushcycle also....

Yes she cut him up slightly, but look how slow he was, he got smoked by the truck. Its as if he engineered the situation to create the video... People like this are the reason why my GoPro lives inside the tankbag til I get to an interesting desination/off road area to film. To top it of he engages in offensive language (much more naughtly than poor lane merging) and utilises his vehicle as an offensive weapon by cutting in on her when delivering his spiel.
Whats the bet the cop never got to hear the audio portion....

Talking about there when you(well someone else needs them)... Had to go up to the big smoke last week. That big long onramp around greenlane area northbound by the rail. Flash late model hatchback enters very busy motorway at about 130ish km/h, most traffic around 85-90. Does the big carve up straight throught to second lane, aborts fast lane entry and zigs back to first lane.... and in the process severely annoying a blue commodore.
The blue commodore unoftunatley for him had party lights installed and proceeded to nail his arse over to the shoulder. Was a plain clothes detective so wonder if he got ticket or just a major rark up.....

Well, I did laugh a little - but there is fault all around - and whilst I agree with the owning the lane sentiment, it would have been wiser to either give it some wrist and get passed the hazard or give way and avoid the hazard.

Giving it some wrist would have been a lane owning action in this case.

He hung back so far, many car lengths worth, the lady in the car was probably thinking "screw this, I'm not going behind that slow bastard" and so she decided to move up and take the place.

If he'd just confidently moved up behind the truck, he'd have been well in front of her and she'd have probably let him slot into place.

Bit different to the olden days where you'd run a boot down the side of the car ,or if it was called for, take a wing mirror off.

Bit of a soft situation with the woman driver tho, just a bit of tooting and mouth.

Do these cameras give power of arrest ? Just wondering ?

Silly prick caused more disruption and danger to everyone else by getting the cops involved in his silly tiff... Fuck me - it happens every day in the car or the bike... Fact is - some wankers cant merge so leave em to it. Save it for the shit that matters... Like the silly cow in Hamilton that tried to do that to Vicki and I on the ST with full luggage... Then I though - wtf am I doing? This things got a zillion Hp so I just fucked off and left her to it... Love my bike...

As a pure hypothetical - if everytime a wanker couldn't merge, they got pulled over - would we see an improvement in merging behaviour?

No, we'd be caught in the gridlock of stationary cars from the 200 trying to sit in the shoulder to talk to the bobby.

Happened to me twice tonight on the way home. I just dropped back, let the driver weave through traffic and then in both cases simply went past them as they got stuck in the wrong lane approaching roundabouts. And that wasn't by lane splitting, just calm riding in commute traffic. And I made it home 1) alive 2) not ranting 3) without needing to spend 40 minutes downloading gopro and dicking about with youtube.

Instead I just come on here to moan at someone else doing that. < falls off moral high horse face first into large pile of dung >

Trouble with videos is that you can edit them to make yourself look like a saint and toss out all the bad bits. It does not show what was going on before hand and he may have been a perfect twat lane splitting and cutting in front of her causing her to react as she did. Not saying he did but just pointing out it only shows the bits he wants seen.

I would like to have seen the footage of how the cop handled the incident.

You are assuming they do it every time... People fuck up - have bad days etc. Besides we would be sitting still in the congestion.

When I'm perfect - I'll start worrying about others..
