Hi everybody,

I've been hovering about the Forums for the last few weeks so I thought I'd best introduce myself.

I got my licence recently and bought a TZR250.
Been for a few rides (covered about 100k) but the weather has put a bit of a damper on my practice.

I've done a fair bit of riding on farms and such but its a totally different world when you get on the road! :scooter:

I'm still getting used to the 2-Stroke, I find it hard revving so high (I've only ridden 4-strokes before - mainly farm bikes) so I find I stall sometimes from a standing start.

One thing I am having some problems with is the bike keeps dying when I try to give it revs. ie, if the revs fall below 4000 and I give it throttle it just dies.
It usually only seems to happen when its cold and I have the choke out so maybe I haven't warmed it up enough.

Anyways, I look forward to getting out there and getting to know you all.

Kevin

Welcome Black, from one BLACK to another.

You may find you have some SHITE in ya carbies? Do ya know what carbies are?

You should be able to take the bowl off the bottom and empty them clean out any shite.

If not find a mechanic!

Cheers BlackAdda,

I'm no mechanic and I've got butter fingers but I do know a little bit (read 'very basic knowledge') about engines.

My brother races bikes and builds them so next time I see him I'm gonna get him to guide me as I give the beast a workover.

I'll make a special point to clean out the carbie.

Thanks for your help.

Kevin

Welcome to the madhouse black. If it's only happening when you've got the choke wide open then it's probably not too much to worry about, it's more than likely just overfueling it which will cause it to hesitate and pop and fart. Just take it easy till it's warmed up good and proper, then thrash the f@ck out it.

Welcome to KB. Make yourself at home, and try not to eat the furniture.
Does your TZR run OK with the choke off?

Hey mate, the reason the bike dies is because its a TZR :bleh:

It seems to run ok without the Choke once its warmed up.
I think it runs ok with the choke on before its warmed up then it'll die on me... maybe i just aint used to me bikes little quirks yet ... i dunno.

I think my main problem is that I'm over-eager to get out there and I'm guilty of leaving before its warmed up proper.
That and I still find it a bit difficult to rev it enough.

Gave me the sh*ts when I let the clutch go too quickly once, probably made me a little over-cautious ... I think more practice will help me get her screaming properly :blip:

What year/model is the beast?

I've uploaded a picture of it to my profile.

Nice paint. That pile of bits is my 87 1KT. Giving it the rebuild at present, but not far off finished. Hope to have it up and running by December.
