View Full Version : Best chain for secondary set of wheels?

Hi guys,
Have a set of motard wheels I plan on swapping out with the dirt wheels on my Husaberg - for a bit of dedicated road fun.

Will be using a smaller rear sprocket for road work, hence chain will need to be shorter than dirt set up so am planning on getting a dedicated chain to match this set of wheels & gearing (yes sprockets are near new)
Aware of the type of chain I need (eg 520 O-ring), but wondering is there a particular one (brand/type) you have found is easier to link/unlock and remove etc?

Cheers for your thoughts - I'm assuming my plan is the least hassle one unless any better ideas?

And that is useful to the OP how? If you have no knowledge on the topic maybe just ignore the question.

I use DID vx2 across the board, 1100 blackbird / zx6r / ktm 350 and on my 530 which wears 17"s on the road, don't think 1 brand is better than another as far as speed changing goes, I use 14/42 for the road and dirt, might change to 13 for single track or track 2 at taupo, I marked the swingarm so adjustment is quick and painless.

@op. when going from dirt to road (or vicey versey) you end up with the worst of both worlds. a bike designed for the porpoise wins over one not.
