Hey guys

I am wondering if anyone here knows the correct way to measure drum and disc brake ovality/runout?
An internet search has yielded vague results.
Is it as simple as taking a few measurements with a vernier caliper across the diameter of the drum or disc at different points and looking for discrepancies?
I'm wondering if this is accurate enough for a brake declaration.

thanks in advance

Ben

You need to know the OEM max size for the drum and minimum thickness for the disk then your measurements must be in 70% of that or something, but if you can prove your bike was reged in NZ before 1991 you don't need a brake declaration.

If its for your XLCH I can obtain the information for you.

Cheers for the offer! but it was for my 2004 kawasaki. Unfortunately they do require brake certs so I ended up paying the shop to do it.
