Gidday all KB'ers,
The Woodstock Rally, as hosted by the West Coast Touring Motorcycle Club is on again. The dates for the 2006 Woodstock Rally are 27th, 28th & 29th January 2006 (Ackl & Nelson anniversary weekend - good for you guys that are travelling)
It is guaranteed to be stonker as it was last year. Looks like we are all set to blow last years experience. Ask some of the KB'ers that ended up comming, having a great time and drinking a beer or two with us....
Hope to see the usual KB suspects from the last few years and a few new ones.
Go the Woodstock Rally.
Further details are posted on the Calendar section,
or you can check our website www.westcoasttouringmc.com :niceone:

Good one Feral, asked on the site a few months ago if anybody knew what weekend it was, nobody knew but here it is from the horses mouth!
Will Crissie-Bimbo and I be allowed back openly or do we have to sneak in?? :shifty: :drinknsin
This time we'll be up for a day or two longer! :niceone:

OK excuse my ignorance BUT where on the West Coast is this rally held as there are 2 Woodstocks in the South Island. one on the Nati moti rd out of Nelson and the other just out of Hokitika.
We went to a Rally at Charleston years ago and that was good, any excuse to ride some good top of the south roads.

5th October 2005, 20:09
It's about 5km (I think) out of Hokitika, my head was too fuzzy to notice the true distance last time I left the rally. :drinknsin

Gidday there Scumdog,
be good to see you and Crissie there again. I am sure you wouldn't have to come beggin to get into the site, we forgive you... (not sure if that copper patrolling outta Wanaka has yet tho...)
Be good to see the guys from chch and toddy from the deep south as well.
I met NC30chick last time she was on the coast, don't know if she is still posting on the site (haven't visited KB for a little while now - my computer shat itself), be good to see her and a few others from welly.
Pickle; yeah the site is about seven km's from hokitika. The rally is held at the woodstock domain which is a bitchin scenic site looking into the alps and right on the Hoki river. Good comfortable site with food, good tent sites, flush loos/showers and a good bunch of fellow riders (and some explosive entertainment - think local coasters playing with big military hardware)
Come on down and have a good ride on the fine coast roads. Will be a good ride from wellington down.
Will throw the entry/information form on the thread as an attachement soon, so you can check the details

Dangerous: yeah, cheers mate, thats the one.
Look forward to seeing you and Manuboy from Chch. I hear you sold you VTR for some new sexy guzi. Will have quiet word too above regarding the wx... I am sure it will be another bitchen hot weekend.
Rashika: I will keep an eye ouf for that nice buell of yours on site. There is always a huge amount coming over from Chch and Canterbury, so it should be a good ride over the alps.
Gidday branco, welcome to KB mate. I see you are in Westport. Be good to see you at the rally. we have a few members of our West Coast Touring Motorcycle Club that are from westport. The club goes on regular west coast based rides, including up your way. The next ride up your way is an overnighter to Karamea, this comming weekend. Will be good. I won't be going myslef. But if you PM me with your email adress, i will send you the WCTMCC October newletter. No worries mate :niceone:
I also see you asked about the bottled lightning - good run that. One of the guys in the club is involved in the organising and I will get his number for you and post it in that thread.

Hey Toddy: good to hear from you again. Haven't had the time to look through your intredid travel logs yet, but look forward to catching up with you all for a beer very soon.
Dangerous: I will spread the word. there is a guy up Nelson way looking around for a new roadbike. he is interested in a CBR, VFR, VTR or TL. i rang him about my Tiller and send him info tro. But he had a go on a TL and said it wasn't quite for him - reconed he would be better of with a nice, quite and mellow VTR... :)
he has an add in last tursdays BS&E under M/C wanted. if you havent got a copy of the paper, i will PM you his number. he might like to know more about your shiny macine.
Yep - i am selling mine, it is a bit strange because i have owned for a long time & there is no doubt, i love the bike, it is immaculate and does everything very well - it will make someone a happy man, especially at the super deal price!!! But I am keen for a new(ish) inline four 1000. ...come-on toddy give's a crack on the RR
Branco - I will PM you my work email. You can send me a email and i will ensure you get the latest WCTMCC newsletter.
To the rest of you, looking forward to Woodstock 2006.

Hey all,
This is starting to all sound fucken fantatastic. I am getting seriously amped.
It is going to be great rally again. And it is awesome to see all the KB'ers that have aleady signed up that they are coming in the Events Section. Looking forward to having a few beers with all of you's.
Forget about cruizing the East Coast Scum... Just checked the old 'fencepost' (farmer in me - bloody good wx forescast tho) and the weather looks so sweet, absolutly primo - i mean simply fine hot weather with light sea breezes from Friday to Monday (inclusive) It should put the good weather you could see in the background of last years photo (see page one of post) to shame.
So take the West Coast all the way.
As Smoking said, the boys have been busy giving the site a bit more capacity. Its looking good.
AND.. you heard it here first and exclusive, fellow KB"ers:
We had a on site meeting a couple of days ago to suss, the 'explosive' entertainment....
And not one 50 tonne, angry, gazzleguzzeling, car crushing, loud as a motherf*%ker war tank spewing explosives,
BUT
Two 50 tonne, angry, gazzleguzzeling, car crushing, load as a motherf*%ker war tanks spewing explosives (at each other  ) -
This is going to be the coast war battle from hell.

Can you make sure you've raked up all the cow / sheep shit in the second (camping) paddock - i almost canned it last year spinning it up on a few choice droppings on the way out (and the guy on the harley did)
That will teach him for taking the plow off the tractor :chase:

Heard from him last night and he will be at the rally. He is always willing to have a beer.:drinknsin
Enjoy the Rally, at this stage a small group of us will be heading South over Easter.
Well, C.B. and I are at Haast, had an ale cos it's effing hot, spotted an mega-fuggly BMW outside Wilderness Motel, has stickers all over it, I GUESS it's Harvey???.
Dang, one of the other guys has just told me it has gone - we're off to the 'Jar-shop' for a few drinks tonight so hope it's there and I'll have a yarn with him.
Anyway, ride here from Chez Scumdog was A1 - barring the 30degree plus heat!

I'm here too, at Greymouth that is. Bloody hot on the ride over, heaps of melted tar on the roads, watch out for it guys. And watch out for the cops too - there was one hidden at the top of the Cragieburn range keeping an eye on the straight with his laser. Stopped at the Bealey for a beer, only to discover more cops there too. The chick behind the bar said there are two marked cars and one mufti car staying there at the moment - so they'll be out looking for you tomorrow.
Also the cops from Nelson are still on the coast including 4 mufti cars - 3 late model holdens and/or falcons and a japanese boy racer look a like painted a dark dull colour possibly satin black.
Plenty of bikes on the roads too, so it should be a good one tomorrow.
Anyway, off to have a beer or 3 now ...

Spot a lunch in the sun at Reefton, and then on to Woodstock (south a Hokie)
Great site awesome people lovely aray of grub coast style well priced drinks and a good old chin wag with the southeren KBer's.
The two tanks I have picthered had a blasting sesion at each other and unfortunatly for the Krout's they lost..... so did the Hiace and Mk1 Escort.
I have vid's of it man ya wana herar the tanks scream.... LOUD hell yes and the racket of the peops watching is funny as too.
Bit a breaky in Hokie and off over the Aurthers... that has to be one of NZ's best rides, now time to bath the bike.... heaps a pic's on there way... so stay tuned:headbang:

Yeah I was there had a great time, just got home about half an hour ago.
I was on my trusty CG, well it only broke down a few times!
Was running real rough on the way over, apart from the hills when it was running like a dream. When we left today it was running rough as guts, I thought it might be the coil lead, but it wasn't, pulled in at the roundabout, the kamea junction? the roundabout with the tran tracks going through it, and wrapped some tape around the lead, but then it wouldn't start! :( was no spark, we worked on it for about an hour and it turns out the condensor lead was earthing out where it attaches to the coil. We put some tape around it and it fired up! Went good for about a K then it putu'd out again so we wrapped HEAPS of tape around it as it wore through. Was running mint as after that, got home in no time, even managed to take out a few big bikes around the twisties as it handles pretty good if you hang off the side.
It was a blue CG110 with a 125 barrel and XL125S piston if anyone saw it, that was me!

Yeah just got it running again on wedensday so I think that trip well and truley ran it in!
Yeah we had 3 people on it, cruising around to get a feed.
It was parked next to a lime green KR250 for a while, there was kate on the black RGV250, matt on the blue rather fancy RGV250, there was ben on the black TZR250, and ben on the KR250, all 2 stroke! Way to go! Then there was dan and leanne on the GPZ550 and me on the CG110/125.
So when is the next ride on? I'm keen to go for a blat, as long as it's twisty as, cos thats where the CG does best, is real crappy on straight lines, tops out at a not very fast speed, but loves to be chucked around the corners!

Still sorry to have missed on what sounded like a great rally - next year. Saw sonny Jimmie (aka Dan in Tyger Tung's posting) when he got home last night, but he didn't even wait for sundown to hit the hay - said somehting about a headache.
I have seen the sore seat answer for you IDB. When passing through Opotiki a few years back we sidled into the Tuhoi Embassy - well worth a stop. On sale there was a "Royal pain in the arse chair" that seat of which consisted of jagged broken pieces of wood. Would suit the Duc but it had a price tag of something like $1500. Also, could probably think up more abuse from Glenorchy. Just let me know when you need another dose.

Well, C.B. and self dined gracefully with the Ch-ch rabble and others in Hokitika after the rally then carried on to Westport, good windy bits near Punakaiki area, fuel up and scoff at Westport (with Mr Big of the Nelson Maccs franchise - his bike was worth more than about three of my best toys put together). Headed off to Karamea, a mighty fine piece of motorbike road met us at the halfway stage, twisty bits to Africa and NO advisory signs for any of the bends which went from 80kph in 3rd gear down to 25kph in 1st gear - all in 100 metres of road!!! brakes were hot and so was the rider by the time we got out of the twisty bits by Little Wanganui, last bit was a bit less dramatic 'cos was stuck behind new-ish XR6 'coon that was moderate at taking corners.
Got to Karamea and found almost all the accomodation taken by the Nelson 4 Wheel-Drive Club (Bloody 4 x4s, always in the way) Had a GOOD nights sleep then headed off this morning, fuel at Westport, a beer with a bunch of biker types (owners of the dancing fool at the Woodstock rally, ZZR will remember seeing him) and then lunch at Reefton, more bikers there too - but a little more 'upmarket' than I'm use to hob-knobbing with ( found out it WAS Nelson Anniversary weekend this weekend - hence so many bikers out and about).
Now at Maruia Hot Springs for the night, had a long soak in one of the pools (rated 'rapid cook' in my scale of things) followed by a cold dip and then a cold beer, yeeehaaa!!.
(Bloody C.B. has already started into her G&Ts, I'd better go and catchup!!!

I will be at the Vincent and HOG Rallies as well as the March Hare. Funny I have never worked out the daily average for that trip . I didnt have any seat problems. Barb who I bought the bike off is the owner of www.alaskaleather.com and she had stripped the original seat and widened it then recovered it. She also supplied me free of charge an Alaskaleather Butt Pad. They were also my principal sponsor for the ride. I done 3 x days off 500 miles ( 800km ) on gravel each day and 1022 miles in a 24 hour period with no major ars problems. The ride from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay and return was a gut buster. I was physically worn out for a week after that ride. I have a ride report and pics on www.advrider.com do a search for " Kiwi heading to Alaska in Ride Reports . The Jeep trails in Colorado and Utah are just heaven on a DR. My best day I covered 140 miles and went over 6 passes all over 12,000 feet high. Next time I will lower the gearing and put on more suitable tyres. Cheers Toddy

THANKS for coming around; ids, zzr, dangerous, scumdog, toddy, suziq, rashika, manu and while I didn't meet you: Tygerlung - cheers by the way to you mate Matt for the entertainment on Sunday , morning when he threw his RGV away - highsided on the way to the exit tent - right in front of the boys sitting on the couch - good humour...
Also, if you were the bloke trying to wheelie that bike all saturday afternoon - that was also good entertainment - cheers.
Had a great time at the rally - hope you all did too. Apologies for not quite having the time to have a good chat and drinking session with some of you. I ran into some of you on the saturday night, while I was busy settinging up the explosions for the tank battle and had to excuse my self after a quick chat as I was in the middle of heading places. At the March Hare, hope to catch up and not be busy organising.
Great photos everyone. I didn't take many myself. however a mate got a good picture of me when Evan Brichfield and I were shifting his tank from one paddock along the access road into another paddock ready for the heavy lift tranpsorter home on Sunday avo. I will post it as when he emails it. Having a sit in the tank was an eye opener - this thing still has got everything in it - from the laser sights to the nuclear apocolyps filteration system - pretty cool. Turning on the road during the hot Sunday sun made a real mess of the tarseal tho - was awesome to see.
Untill the march hare all.
Cheers again - hope you enjoyed what the club put on - we'll do it again next year.

Turning on the road during the hot Sunday sun made a real mess of the tarseal tho - was awesome to see.
Untill the march hare all.
Cheers again - hope you enjoyed what the club put on - we'll do it again next year.

Yeah that was funny matt trying to show off on his way out and dropping the bike, I thought that was a great laugh, me and ben left a bit later.
My bike was running real arse on saturday, I was playing around with the carb, trying to get it running a bit better, but found the problem on sunday, runs much better now, wheelies real easy as you'll see in my posting about my accident in the general section.
Was a great weekend for sure, will definatly be going next year.

Well, got home O.K., rode out from Maruia Springs and realise not enough gas to get to Hamner!
And had gone through Springs Junction the night before and hadn't bothered to top up!:slap:
So back to Springs Junction for gas then off towards the east, stopped at Culverden for smoko - saw a nice puple 2000 Superglide Sport - my next type of scoot if all goes well.
Scuttled around Ch-ch to avoid getting tangled with any of the rabble from there and shot off down Thompsons Track at Rakia, shee-it did that wind blow for the whole length of the track - riding at about 45 degree angle the whole time!
Had a handle a Mayfield, gassed up at Geraldine, cruised on up to High Country Motorcycles and had a look - some cool rides there including a 100 inch Buell (eat you heart out Rashika! oh, by the way dropped your name there, will I score social points for doing so?).
Spent the night at friends (yes I do have some!) in Twizel - he's getting a brand new Heritage so he's joining the 'clan'.
Headed off for home, got fuel at Cromill and had a cuppa then off for home, got here safe'n'sound, had done something like 1980km since Friday, met some great people and rode some great roads, narrowed my chicken strips to nil - and never got pulled over once!!!:nya:
BTW Manuboy, nice to see you posted a pic of the elite Southern KBers - me HondaV2 and idb in pic 6 on post #121, very nice profile of us all and don't we look sharp!!!!
Oh, and the best part? It never rained one drop throughout the whole trip!! (But them West Coast dragonflys would likely tear you leg off if you hit one)

Bloody hell, I didn't even recognise myself!
No wonder the chicks are so contented in the South Island with profiles like those on offer eh?
Sounds like a good trip SD.
See you for sure at the March Hare.
If anyone wants to catch up on the way through we could organise something.

I know, it worked well - and all these others thought it was just a gimmick, there's more to those items than meets the eye (or radar as the case may be)!
Just home from the Musclecar Madness about an hour or so ago - and again no tickets!:2thumbsup :msn-wink:

She's sweet, a quick check with the owner (if you know him) will likely show it's all certified prior to new (non-retrospective) 1998 Land Transport Act.:2thumbsup
'Course a better drive-way approach angle WOULD save a lot of scraping - or so I'm told.
