Okay how many of you have had the need to buy a bed lately. This hopefully won't go pear shaped as there is serious potential.
The price of beds is quite amazing and there are more brands than you can shake a stick at. They all have 5 or 10 year guarantees that are about as dubious as a fox in a chicken house.
Torquezone, pocket spring and Latex mattresses. Whatever.
3 years ago I bought a new latex u beut mattress that cost around 2300 with a fancy gaurantee. Well now it has "contoured" over recent months and its like sleeping in a fox hole [ remember the old kapock mattresses on wire wove beds...]you have to occasionally climb out of the hole to get comfortable and that only lasts till you slide back in. Now the funny thing is the mattress manufacturers seem to have a rule on a broom handle across the bed and a
1" gap and then they will look into it, a bit like John key and too many people not enough houses. Suffice to say until your lying in the bugger you can't see it has developed a "body contour". Body contour is normal to the manufacturer and bloody uncomfortable to the customer.
Cut to the chase. I am going to throw out my 3 year "fancy top of the range 10 year plus expected life blah blah". I have chosen to go pocket spring this time with a brand likely to be sourcing out of Vietnam. I'm over paying top dollar for NZ brand stuff that doesn't live up to the hype. Good thing is its almost $800 cheaper than the last one and get this lol its got a 10 year guarantee....
The shop I bought the failing mattress from suggested I talk to sleepynoggin to discuss a warranty claim. I can't be assd as it will be a slow boat to Timbuktu and then it will go on and on. [ Look on the web and even consumer nz]
Even harvey Normal has beds for over 10k I lay on one and couldn't for the life of me figure out where the other 7k had been spent. It felt the same as the 1.5k bed go figure.
From what I can see forget the hype don't bother buying any bed over 2k. Pay between 1-2k then chuck it out after 5 years and get another new one. Torquezone type springs tend to disturb your partner [ yeah i know they are already disturbed sometimes, often , okay okay] Pocket springs can fall over and latex mattresses start out beut and then form foxholes. You pays your money and takes your chances.
Dont get me started on fancy washing machines and sky tv [ why the hell do they advertise so much the same crap over and over and over, your already paying to watch arn't you....]
Woohoo have a great week. I will crawl into my foxhole and hope my new bed arrives in 3 weeks not full of the pink ephedrine scourge.:niceone:

I sidestepped the whole thing - after years of back pain, I now sleep in a chair bought secondhand off trademe for $25....
And the back has never been better.

I've recommended it to several guys who've been having trouble - and the feedback has all been good.

Good timing. We were supposed to go bed shopping this weekend - maybe next now.

We bought a quality NZ made bed almost 30 years ago. It's erm, well past its use-by date, but has served us well.

I'll take on board your observations.

your contract is with the shop who sold you the bed their contract is with their supplier, the shop should honour the warranty and fight it out with their supplier, can you turn it over? i suppose it has the pad thing so only goes one way, how about turning it end for end then your boyfriend can sleep in the hole

LOL sorry for leaving out the guessy bit. My boyfriend is a chick but hey if your case is different then I'm open minded enough to say if your happy and your boyfiends happy thats okay by me.
The chair is fine if you and the mrs have been together 47 years and she hates your snoring. It may even improve your relationship . We did rotate the mattress religiously every week and yep the shop were real keen to go into bat for me Not. Like I said its not the end of the world but believe me the guarantees and warranties are mostly smoke and mirrors. Aside from the mattress collapsing and falling to bits they arn't seriously going to do anything. How much aggravation do you need. Some will let you try the bed for a month, some for a week and some will look at you and think you may sleep with a Rottweiler and wont let you have a trial at all...
Sir C.. I have had two viragos 750 and 1100 the 1100 is a great bike. The 750 had the starter screech that makes other people run for cover and you to ride away in shame. 750's are good to ride though and reliable to the max.

That's bloody annoying. I went shopping for a new toilet seat a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't find anywhere that would let me try before buy.

Advertised a bed on BeTradeMe and the amount of twats who went "ooh! It's been used"...

They forget that when they book into a motel/hotel, those beds have also "been used".

Fucking retarded cunt-monkeys on BeTradeMe...:weird::bash:

I bought a memory foam mattress 2 years ago, was $5000 for the mattress, I got the floor model plus the bed base for $3000. It's still in as new condition, but then again it's only been 2 years. I'd hassle the shit out of the shop for the warranty

You won't want to have in your possession a U.V torch, you will never get to sleep.
