Had to drop something off in town this afternoon so took the cage. Came along K Rd to the corner of Pitt St, I was in the right hand lane behind some 4WD thingie, there are two lanes marked to turn right into Pitt St and a guy on a red sports bike wearing a black Samurai jacket came up the lane inside me indicating a right turn too.
Lights go green, 4WD thingie starts turning right into Pitt St in the right hand lane, I start to follow, the bike starts to turns right in the inside lane up alongside the back of the 4WD thingie, but up until now it's all kosher.
But F***wit in the 4WD thingie sees a parking space just around the corner in Pitt St, right outside the strip club, maybe she was late for work there. She hauls left without indicating from two lanes out into the empty car park. The biker saw her start to turn left across his front and really applied max braking effort. He pulled up safely a foot or so short of modifying her panel work, I stayed back and let him out, he pulled up alongside the now parked 4WD thingie.
I saw him angrily indicate to her with two fingers that she'd made a number of mistakes, then he moved off. So I pulled up beside her too, blew my horn and also indicated with my fingers that she'd obviously made some serious mistakes and mouthed imprecations about her parentage and their unmarried status.
Just a case of a big vehicle driver thinking that their ability to get a parking space was more important than looking around for other road users. And those of us that ride bikes have gotta stick together. I think she got the message, she'll probably be spilling drinks all night in the strip club though.

Call me a cynic, but I doubt if anything you or the biker said would ever make any difference to a driver of that caliber - they are SO, SO, SO far more important than you or I could ever image... which is why they drive what they do... a wally-trolley.
Another reason for defensive riding/driving.

... a cunt on one of our big inner city roads chose my footprint to impede on...his little ute was far more important than my flash noisy orange bike...on his way into my space he dragged my glove and subsequently, my bar took exception and pursued with this unwanted force into my general riding horizon, unless I avoided this peril, it would result in me being dismounted from my orange, flash thing.
...Fortunately for me the lights intervened in his mad dash to the left. His deceleration took the unwarranted pressures from my bars and I was able to, with a large part of left leg scooting, keep my orange flash on tack.
...this gave me ample opportunity to be very relieved and also, at the same time, to be very angry...opportunely for my anger, the cunt had various ute accoutrements sitting on his deck, one being a smallish bottlejack...I made sure I observed it smashing his rear window and striking a blow to his mortal coil...I then filtered off to my destination...but that's probably out of order these days...doesn't mean it wont happen again...any time some cunt thinks they can try and kill me...fucking with gingas is dumb..

Few weeks ago at the top of the gorge, saw a station wagon trying to change from the left lane to the right lane, right on top of a bike.
Just as I was saying "oh shit" and taking my foot off the pedal (in a car myself), she noticed and stopped the maneuver. He kept his cool.
As I went past that wagon, I saw its right side mirror was less mirror and more duct tape. Figures.
Less SMISDY and more DILLIGAF.

Nah, not this time. As equally bad driver, a middle aged blonde.
I've got to admit, it was as neat a piece of braking as I'm ever likely to see though.

Generally true, but sometimes it gets a bit close to home. The biker here probably felt he needed to point out her mistake for the benefit of future encounters.

...cheers Scubbo...I just read it now...I'm quite amazed that I strung that many words and dots together...
...three broken teeth, a handful of Drew's favourites, Tramadol, some, (lots of) recreationally medicinal oil and whiskey does some strange shit...my wife says I drank some beers too while I was digging a path near our shed...she showed me the pile of earth I moved...I had no idea...it was nearly a cubic meter of soil...
...anyway, I'm now three teeth lighter in my head, a few hundred lighter in my pocket, and cant eat for a day or two, but no pain...or fucking tramadol needed...
...the cunt didn't get hurt because the jack bounced off his headrest back onto the deck, but he paid for his sins and I reckon shit was hanging out of his daks at about the same time I was calling him a cunt...I reckon that being proactive and beating some sense into these dicks is probably against the law and not very PC and is maybe seen by some to be over the top, but fuck, it makes you feel better...

Yeah I know and understand... sometimes it can be worse to find out they just DGAF...
Many moons ago an elderly gentleman turned right across my path in town. I'm an accomplished two finger braker but I still managed to lock the front of my GSXR1100L and tuck the front. Cant remember if I did a motocross dab of the foot or whatever but I ended up stopped slightly sideways. Even the other cagers had their mouths wide open at how close it was.
Anyway I turned around and chased up to him where he was parking his car. Did a suitable rant and rave and just completely DGAF. Pretty sure with my potty mouth I would have called him the C word too and that didn't riffle him either lol...

Most drivers are barely able to control the vehicle at the best of times. Some are blithely unaware of their incompetence and some combine all three with self superior attitudes and arrogance.

After some recent overseas research...
NZ has around 750 actual "drivers". All the others are merely "wheel turners".
NZ has no roadcraft WHATSOEVER.
