Last week I rode from home(Queenstown ) to Wellington and traded in my 2009 bmwr1200gs.
I had to burn off about 600kms so I could get its first service do by the dealer. Then back on the ferry and 3 days to get home. Popped into kaiapoi and got some alt rider protection installed. Thanks Paul at Motomox.
Then over Arthur's pass to Franz, and onto Queenstown.
My have vario panniers on the bike. The weather was great overall. Had a little rain on the coast on my last day.
And my bike is full spec.
Comparing the new water cooled GS with the old one, well I thought the old one was an awesome bike, the the new one is on another Level.
It's rather refined, but still has the boxer engine personality. A lot more grunt than the 09. I love the quick shifter. And the cruise control. I played around with the various engine modes and they impressed. They are slot more useful and effective than I would have thought. The led head light is brilliant. The Altrider engine guards and bash plate are very high quality. And oil and filter changes and valve checks can be done without having to remove then.
Only other planned farkles are adding a foot stand enlarger and headlight and Rad guard protection.
Do not test ride this bike. It will cost you a lot money.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160903/8fe7d6bed7b29f1280e21fa98bd96e22.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160903/5c81358d70a8f361cda41bd6849ba8d1.jpg
