Howdy chaps and chapesses,
Still getting used to the site, posted this in wrong place last nite...
My name is Al and I'm a practicing bikeaholic, I get excited just thinking about them..
We had various chook chasers on the farm when i was a lad. Cut my teeth on Honda CT's, XL's & XR's.
First time definitely wasn't the worst time when I got my first big road bike at the tender age of 18. A VF750F, loved the V Four note.
After the apprenticeship was dispensed with I spent 18 months doing a lap of Oz on a GPz900R. No rush eh.
UK & Europe beckoned, this time astride a Beemer R65, I'm sure the frame was hinged in the middle on that thing.
After the home office kicked me out of England, myself and a Pommy mate rode trailies home across Asia on the overland route. XT350 for that one, ride of a lifetime.
Back home there were a couple of Ducati's that I enjoyed immensely before I (dumbly) sold my last bike to pay off my house mortgage.
After a bikeless period of about 4 or 5 years I decided to get a 'sensible' CBR250 to keep mileage down on the car and the biking flame was re-kindled. I found myself riding the wheels off the thing with a stupid grin on my face the whole time. And so I was introduced to the concept of 'its more fun to ride a small bike fast than a fast bike slow'. Currently punting a CBR300 which I did a few track days on and another seed was sown...
So I got my racing licence this year and are competing at Teretonga on a howling GSXR400 in the superlite class. It's been like a second apprenticeship for me so far but a way more enjoyable one. Just need to get the gloss scratched off those damn knee sliders now. :o
I have a '04 XR250 for the dirt as well but it's probably my least ridden bike due to just not having enough time to ride three bikes as much as I would like to.
So that's my motorcycling story so far, good to be here.
