there may well be a change in format at this years Road racing Nationals with CTAS following various discussions around the pits at race meetings i've attended recently. Over the last few years we have had the luxury of being able to watch it live, one of the options i believe is being tables is having it recorded and then available on a pay per view basis later on, no longer available live.
will this get you to the racetrack instead of watching it at home?
will you make use of the footage a couple of days later?
what other thoughts are out there?

No I would ether be there if i could or not. Ctas coverage would not come into it.
I would only watch at a later date if I was racing.
Not sure of the background for the decision but I really enjoy following the live racing if I can't be there. I thought last years coverage was a massive step in the right direction. Not sure how much was Seth and how much was Ctas but it really added a great feel to the series.
Is it a cost thing?

If I'm there racing it's nice to be able to see it later other wise CTAS was excellent for watching live as I'd watch meetings I couldn't get to anyway

seems there's one day of livestreaming from ruapuna this year and hampton downs.
it's been a big drawcard to sponsors being able to tune in and see where they spent their money over recent years, me included, wonder how deep it will cut not having this facility available?

Its disappointing. Ill give it the benefit of the doubt though if they can improve the live timing system so you can view results after the race etc

It's a big task to live up to what CTAS were offering. Live footage of all races and timing as well! It's unbelievable that MNZ would not communicate with the half a dozen or so people that actually do nationals now and ask them what they want.
Good news is that the Suzuki series will be booming so im not too bothered.

I dont know who runs CTAS, but it is awesome to watch if you cant be there (like me).
Yes, I would pay to watch it live via a payment system, but I couldn't be bothered to watch at a later date, as people upload so much shit onto social media sites after the event nowadays, that you get to see stuff anyway for free.
But live viewing with laptimes and commentary - yes, I'd pay - I've never understood why there wasn't a charge before (apart from Wangas).
During lunch breaks and bike recovery times, can video snippets (pre-recorded from earlier rounds) be played so we get to see the riders/sponsors etc of the last or next class up? That would be a win/win for all.
And Spyda, your commentary is legendary!!

and that was knowing it was recorded and could be used in a court of law, look out for this years 'what goes on tour...' edition.

Well what the hell. The best thing to happen to our sport in ages and its pulled back from the 2 of the biggest events we have. Suzuki Series only timing, and no coverage at all of the Nationals.
So what coverage is there from the nationals. A bunch of crappy videos posted in random social media after the fact? Shithouse for the fans that can't be there and the riders to be able to watch and show there family and friends.
I feel bad for Grant and his team. I have been a supporter ever since they started.
From Ctas site.
We are sorry to advise that MNZ decided not to use our services, following the MNZ AGM in 2016. Therefore, we are unable to provide you with the following for NZSBK 2017:
Live Streaming Video and Audio.
Online Support via TXT
Live Chat
Live Race Status Updates
Post race videos online
Post race MP4 Recordings
Overlay Messages and Scoreboard
Live Timing
Live Commentary
We apologise for this, however the decision to not use Ctas Live facilities was beyond our control. We do hope that we can return in the future, but ultimately, this is up to the organisers.
This is also dissappointing that the history of this years Championship Series will be lost, with respect to Video Recordings being added to our online video library, where there are currently more than 3500 videos available free.

voice your opinions to those that matter, maybe if there's enough they may be able to resurrect something for the north island rounds? they are trying to get people to the track, my thoughts are if north islanders are able to follow the south then they'll be itching to get to the north, if they can't follow it then they're likely not to bother so it's double edge sword.

But its only the one day. Ctas was the whole event. Is i-film doing the complete series hard to figure out what is going on. Maybe there is a press release somewhere.

...that could be annoying if you really want to see the lot, but I reconcile the negatives with the positives...not many years ago there was no coverage and scant news if any about any event either here or overseas, we just waited and waited...and waited for some or any news ...I'm not a fan of the wonders? of technology these days, I-phones, facebook, etc but I can remember not being able to contact family or friends for about ten years when I worked overseas unless you knew someone who would let you into their house to use the phone at 25 quid for three minutes on a shaky line that cut you off about a third of the way through the important message or such...today it only takes three seconds to connect with anybody anywhere it seems and that comes with pics and movies...I miss the c-tas coverage but hey, approach the management of our sport and let them know of our displeasure...I will just mow the lawn and carry on with my new 250 race project...

History will show that it was not in fact an improvement.
