Classic Rego

Just got my Rego renewel notice for the Norton and fuck me it's only $57.59 for 12 months.

Now I thought it was only car rego that was going down...but classic biking has just had what nearly represents a 50% reduction.

Consider tho that at the same time my 350LC rego arrived...a bike that is less powered ,better braked and argueably better handling and only 6 years younger and I still have to pay a fucking whopping great $408.

I'll explain it for you.

The VCC lobbied the Govt and got the 40 year rule for people who owned Vintage Cars.

People who own vintage cars tend to drive them carefully and not very often.

The British had a similar system of 30 years but in 2003 stopped it at 1972 as from memory they worked out there were a few million cars of that age still in regular use and not weekend classics.

All very well having traction control and ABS but do bikes really need 100+ HP?

My plan is to go all vintage when I retire as I know how to fix them-I'm over bike and car shops.:laugh:

Some of the more practical ones are now 40, my daily rider is 1974. Did 250 ks on it last Saturday.

Parts availability on BMW's is very good, can get all maintenance items from the UK in a matter of days.

Just respoked the wheels, $120 per wheel for SS spokes :banana:

Looking forward to 2018 when Ducati Darmah turns 40, a mere 31 years after I bought it.

WOF guy has done his back in badly and is on ACC due to a motorcycle incident.

Trying to check wheel bearings on bikes with no centre stand and cant be jacked up due to fairings.

You would think with classic bikes not being built to the same safety standards as modern bikes there would be no discount on them considering how ACC in every other respect considers motorcycling unsafe. Maybe classic bike riding groups were able to convince the govt that our reg should be much lower than other bikes as we only ride our bikes to the odd show and rally.


Its not the bike that causes accidents its the rider.

You can ride your bike 24/7 , if you only want to ride it to the odd show and rally its not the Governments problem that you under use your bike.

Classic Bike clubs do not give a toss about you.

I note its Free rego if it is a WW1 replica.
You can also get daily use non continuous reg and all sorts of things for "Special vehicles"
