This adventure ride lived up to its promise. Blind saddle got my heart racing, even though the drop offs were pretty much obscured from view as we made our way up in the cloud. A number of fresh rock falls across the road to keep things interesting. Then the exhilaration of breaking through to clear skies and magnificent views going down the other side.
The fords were fun and not too deep.
We stayed two nights at Seymour Hut so we could take our time exploring, going through to Goose Flat and back on day 2. It was a very memorable ride and the weather was all we could have hoped for. Day 3, not confident of my stamina, or how much petrol was left in the tank for that matter, I had a quiet morning while my husband shot over the hill and down to Palmers Hut and back. He returned buzzing.
Quick cuppa, loaded the bikes, then it was time to set off for Black Spur Hut, where we stopped for lunch. This time we went over the saddle in warm and sunny conditions, with views all the way out to sea.
It was during this trip that me and my Sherpa reached a special milestone of 5000 kms together.
Happy happy joy joy.:ride:
