Sexy Beast !

I saw that site last year. They are limited numbers and you will have to line up on the waiting list. Was considering buying one. May review my options again.

A Merkin Norton, whatever next?
Why, I'll even bet that it doesn't vibrate components off or leak oil.

I like it , I like it a lot but what is there to stop all the road crap being thrown up from the back wheel and spoiling the shiny engine or is it designed to sit in the living room and look pretty ?

Hey - think about it...
This comes from the land of shiny chromed monsters remember. Posing pouches on wheels.
These aren't designed to run in the rain, and if there are owners who do ride them in the rain, they aren't going to give a rat's about road spooge up their backs. They'll probably relish the excuse to go for a blat in the rain then when they get back to get their hands on the beast, wash and polish it and admire their toy.
And the bike too...

I think its great. Its good to see bikes appearing at classic/different to modern standard capacities as well. I think it looks horn and with all those ohlins suspension its got to handle. If you clean the bugs and tar off after every ride the appearance will be sweet, fuck I do that with my hornet, so I'd do it with a soft bristle tooth brush with this baby.

Just been looking at the threads on their site. They've upped capacity to 961, the thing is still in developement. ie nothing set in concrete yet still. Want to make sure the production release bike is spot on and so it should. Handling issues apperently. I hope it does well.

The Norton comando was the absolute limit of that design ..the piston speeds and ring problems ,,,Then they called it a combat and increased ( from memory ) the compression .....

IMHO the 500 twin was the limit safe reliable ....650 ,,,well thats pushing things a bit ,,,

Have to admit though ,,,it looks nice.....( not as nice as my Enfield thougH)

No,the 600 was the best Norton twin,650,750 and 850 had a longer stroke. So piston speed was not a problem for the 600 - my 600 SS would clean up a 650 SS....all in the rider I presume......

It's a nice bike, but can get a cool Harley for the same price as the Norton. $30,000 plus.

you really do want everything dont you... *sigh*I am particulaly picky as to how I spend the hard earned. For that sort of dosh I expect more for my money  And any way performance doesn't look that much more than an 80's 750, which can be picked up for under 2 grand :spudwave:

600 indeed ...it will never work... the vibrations and the extra machining ...oh no you want to stick to 500, and those overead valves will never replace the a good old fashioned side valve ....

Nope I can never see any of those things catching on its all a passing phase

Yes, but you'll get an 80s 750....

To be honest, I'd probably buy the 80's 750 because I cant justify the 28,000 extra dollars.... Nice thought though....

I'm faaar too young to like that. I mean, where're the acres of shiny plastic, and the monoshock!? Plus, those pipes aren't carbon fibre, and the engine's missing at least one cylinder. See, Norton should've hired me as the designer...
