Except this time there was!

OK, start from the beginning. Yesterday morning on the way to work, I'm riding down Ti Rakau Drive past the end of Gossamer Drive (in East Tamaki) and this 4x4 pulls out from the end of Gossamer in front of me. I'm hard on the brakes to avoid hitting it.

Now I was in the right-hand lane, and the left-hand lane was clear, so he/she/it had to pull accross a clear lane in order to cut me off (bearing in mind that I had right-of-way anyway).

Anyhow, I look up, and sitting there on the side of the road, watching the whole thing, is one of Auckland's finest! (not just any cop, but a bike cop) So he gives me a wave and a nod, hauls out onto the road, and pulls the 4x4 over! :niceone:
I can imagine the conversation on the side of the road...

4x4er: "Sorry Officer, I didn't see him..."

Cop: OMGWTF IT WAS THE BRIGHTEST GREEN THING I HAVE EVER SEEN ARE YOU BLIND???!!?!? :weird: :weird: :weird:

Anyway, it made me feel better... It will probably NEVER happen to me again so I thought I'd share it while I'm still stoked...

lol.. nice.. sometimes it's nice to have things click like that. Hopefully the 4x4 driver will learn from this, and that's one less hazard to deal with. One down a squillion to go..

But don't you just want to stop, and give the miscreant a piece of your mind, taunt them, or otherwise let them know that you're pleased they got busted?

It's not often you get a cop in the right place at the right time. :not:

The same guy was also in Gossamer Drive near Elm Park school, with a lazer gun, catching people coming down the hill towards the Pakuranga Highway.
Always seems to be a bit unfair that position as you would need your brakes on all the way down the hill and they get you as you come around the bend at the bottom.
Didn't think the bikey cops carried lazer guns as they seem a bit bulky to use with a bike, must take up all the storage space.

There's quite often one on Symonds St by the K'rd / Grafton Bridge intersection, stood there with his laser "pinging" people coming down the hill. Has the bike parked back down by the Langham Hotel, making him pretty hard to spot in amoungst the crowds on the foot path. He was there again yesterday round lunchtime.

Hey Crash Harry!

Yip, it was me sitting there watching you about to go splat. Thought I was about to start scraping you off the road when I saw that 4x4 pull out in front of you.

All I can say is "good braking skills!".

And you are right, he didn't see you. Didn't even have a clue what I was talking about when I told him he had just about taken out a motorcyclist. He said something like "Yes, I probably should have give way to that car". I was like, WTF, there were no cars around.

Anyway, he got a $150.00 ticket for his trouble and glad you were still upright at the end of it.

BC.

yay, GO BC!

I would have pulled over as well and watched, laughed, taken pics or something. And joined in in telling the guy off after the cop had done his bit. Bike Cops are so neat I reckon. They have the same problems as us, understand where we are coming from etc. And their job is to ride a bike as well :niceone:

Why is it only $150?? I want selling of vehicle and forced to get a motorbike :headbang:

Don't want to hijack, but seems pointless creating new thread..

Got my first speeding ticket. Didn't want that cop around, eh ;)
However, he was really nice.
Didn't say a thing about no L plate and being above 70km - learner conditions etc.
So instead of a $400 fine (was doing 78k in 50k zone), I got a $120.00 ticket.
He kinda said he'd had an "abusive" day, where as I was completely non-abusive and ended up having a small conversation about bikes.

So, I'm grateful ..and then slighlty annoyed that Colemans didn't have any booze to drink to delay me a bit. ;)

I wonder if it was the KB member cop?

I wondered about that myself,he's been cruising that area for the last week or so.
Doing fairly good trade too.
