Hi guys, got my learners just over a year ago. Been riding approx 50k every week day commuting to work on a ninja 250
Had my first ever crash and it sounds like the bike will be written off.

The Ninja was my first ever bike and its only used for commuting, not sure what best to replace it with (Up to $3800)

Living in Wellington there is a fair bit of headwind so not sure if a cruiser will get me bashed about more or less than on a sportsbike.

Any suggestions?

Take a few styles for a ride. Only you can decide.

Fairings help in a head wind but suck in a cross wind.

For a commute with less than 15min open road I prefer my DR350 dirt bike.
But for a longer commute I prefer my CB1300 naked "muscle bike".

Think about where you want to ride.
How you want to ride.
Do you always want to be a commuter only?

Armed with that info, go for a ride on as many styles as you can.

Ps, if you like a bike enough you can commute on it... even if there are better options for that ride, there will never be a better bike than one you like.

Vtr250 is a very thin bike with similar power to the ninja. No fairings to write a bike off and very nice power delivery for commuting should have some money left over from the 3800 dollars if you get paid out in full.
