Who can recommend me a decent provider of broadband and land line services. Just waiting for my contract with bogafone to expire and they can go fuck themselves.

It would be nice to use a reliable provider with decent pricing but especially, one with whom you can actually communicate effectively.

Vodafone caused four months of grief whilst swapping to fibre. Details of which are long and tedious. Because of the third requirement above not being met.

So any ideas?

But I've had a really good run with Spark - both for work and at home

Not the cheapest, and wait times for support can be over long.

But they have been reliable and helpful - and that includes under the stress of Chch earthquakes. They were/are significantly better than TelstraClear and Vodafone IMHO.

i had 2 degrees phone me the other day offering broadband (am a mobile user). his sales pitch was that "it saves most people about $200 a year!!!011!"

turns out that it costs more than free, thereby not saving ME, shit.

NZ company, the murrays own the air, not too sure about telecoms copper wires, but give it a few rounds of treaty negotiations and who knows.

given that they (2dm) piggyback voda's towers for their mobile, i wouldn't be surprised if they whole/re-sale their BB.

TrustPower are selling UFB below cost to get market share. We switched to them because the electricity cost is much of a muchness no matter who you're with, the UFB is $60/month unlimited first year and $80/month second year on a 2 year contract. Early disconnection charges apply. Free fibre installation by Chorus (ie cheap and nasty) and router supplied. Help desk is in Tauranga and they speak proper kiwi English
Chorus supplied ONT has provision for 2 POTS lines - the Panasonic PBX works fine off that and we kept the old Telstra phone number

Snap! used to be awesome then 2degrees got hold of them & they became very average very fast.

My Republic seem to be quite rated but haven't tried them myself as can't get Fibre

I do have fibre connection already for those who didn't notice that bit in the OP.

I have looked at TrustPower but don't know much about them. I have heard their reliability questioned once or twice. Which gave me pause.

I'm with them currently & while good for the price I do severly miss the Snap! days, they've always been a "you get what you pay for" service IMO
I'm switching from them & gonna give BigPipe a go cause Unlimited Internet wanted to charge 150$ to transfer my interwebz to the new house as it don't currently have any... Bigpipe only wanted 49$ & I got that waived with their current promo so that's 3 months worth of interwebz saved thus worth giving them a shot (also no contracts).
