Hey all! We're looking for 2 x bikes on the North Island for an NZ tour preferably between $2,500-$3,500, it's a bit of an eclectic range of bikes... Reasons being budget, rackless pannier system (can't have shocks or exhausts down the side of the bike with out fairings to protect it), my lil' short legs and we are looking to do a bit of gravel as well as sealed riding.

If you are, or know of any one, looking to sell I'd love to hear about it! We're looking on Tardme but thought it never hurts to get a foot in the door on here too. We are flying into Auckland but I'm happy to bus it or possibly hire a rental car to look at bikes in the North Island.

We are definitely open to other bikes as long as they are reliable and meet the above criteria :niceone: For me it has to be light and low to the ground (I can ship my DRZ parts over if it's a DRZ), this isn't so much of an issue for Mark. We may be able to go a lil higher on the budget but every $100 = more kms on the road and so we are keen to keep things as low as possible.

Any help in our search would be greatly appreciated! Can't wait to get back to NZ after nearly a decade away

Cheers,
Jaz

There's a vtr250 for 3 grand in the tourer section of trade me. Seems like a good bike. Recent service and other good things. In Auckland.

Thanks for the replies... Am keeping an eye on bikes on Trademe. Looks like I was too slow for the KLX but currently finding out what the legalities of me buying a bike whilst in Aus is. I can do bank transfers and have people pick the bikes up for me, it's the paperwork sides of things I that I need answers with

That's something to email nzta or get someone who would pick the bike up to go into the aa or whatever and ask. Can always just put it in their name and promise to pay all the traffic offenses haha.
