Is rain supposed to hurt? (Wgtn)

Rode into a stiff southerly tonight while it was raining fairly steadily and found that at 100km/h the rain was fairly 'stingy'. I thought this to be realtively surprising so thought perhaps it was hail (or close to)?

Also found my brakes were complete sh*t compare to normal as I hadnt used them for about 15mins :). Thats going to go in the 'dont forget that issue' box.

Where was it stinging?
Did you have bare skin showing? Otherwise, Ive only had it happen when it was raining EXTREMLY hard. I think it was last year, early this year.

As for your brakes..
If its raining, they will take a bit longer for your pads to grip the rotors cause of the water.
Nothing to worry about, Just take it easy.

Rain has only stung for me when there is exposed skin or thin clothing. Hail makes a hell of a noise on the helmet!

Woo, that would be cool. It wasnt noisy and wasnt white and bouncy (I did look for that), it was very wet. It had a 'wetting' action. Def wet.

I didnt have any exposed areas of skin. Had padding layer in jacket out and wearing only a t-shirt underneath.

I can't recall what jacket you wear, but I know in mine decent rain will be felt if the winter liner is removed (as it has been for the last month or so). But then I've got a cheap ass cordura jacket.

Hail hurts (IMO), but then pain is a subjective thing :) And it was hailing briefly today at work (Jville).

As for the brake thing - yeah that's scary when you're not expecting it, but as SB said, nothing to worry about if you've already adjusted for the conditions.

I forgot to mention the other day, your bike was looking pretty cool from behind as we came past on the east-west road on Sunday.

Yeah, I work in the Hutt....have lived in the Hutt...now live in Ngaio. The ride to work in the morning is the best part of the day. Dodgy queue jumping at the Petone off-ramp the highlight :).

I rode home on the NZ250 tonight in the rain at 5pm and yes, it wasn't very pleasant.

I still haven't got to the bottom of the cutting-out-in-the-rain problem it has and rode through the Mt Vic tunnel. Thank goodness it didn't die on me in the middle !!

A scarf and some over pants of wetness.
Also found my brakes were complete sh*t compare to normal as I hadnt used them for about 15mins :). Thats going to go in the 'dont forget that issue' box.You could be all proactive and drag the brakes to dry them as you approach a situation where you may have to brake. I find the problem is worse for me on the back brake. If it's a serious problem for you, investigate different brakepads, but I imagine they come at the expense of disc wear.

If the rain drops where as big as they where here in Palmerston North then yes they would have hurt. Managed to get home between squalls and just missed a hail at home. "Flooding" signs and counsel work vans/trucks all around our area. Managed to get the GB covered at lunch time at work, so it was only out in the wetness for a few hours. :crybaby:

Not last Saturday morning. I dont think. Did you hear lots of screaming?

The Hyobag is great. Great bike to learn on. The only con I have at the moment is that its not 105hp and shaped like a Hornet 919 :). Ive done 7K and getting itchy.

Grab me next time we are both on a ride and quiz me. I dont mind answering questions or talking about my bike :).

A good set of coils off Trademe for $30 sorted it out. Rode to Hastings and back in rain on Sunday to test them.

A GB500? My workmate has one and it looks great. Has a Hyosung 650R now.The 400. Now taken over from the '76 cb550F as my fav bike for those inpromptu back country romps. Funken cheapest bike I've owned as far as running costs go-in a word brilliant! Best 1400 bucks I've spent on a vehicle.

A GB500? My workmate has one and it looks great. Has a Hyosung 650R now.Is it red? I saw one yesterday, I thought it looked real good. Much better than in the pictures.
