Personally I didn't think Parker looked that great, undercard fights were much better, was live streamed on a couple of sites on the net, fck paying sky for it :nono:

I 'watched' it on the live coverage on Stuff. Not quite the same as seeing moving pictures but still a certain amount of tension as I waited for the next bit of text to appear.

...yeah, waiting for a line of text is kind of the end of the enjoyment scale isn't it...it sounded to me like a balanced commentary though...

I enjoyed it. Very even. I think Parkers work rate was better (plus I have a vested interest). Having seen and heard his punches landing, you know they're both gonna be hurting today. Full credit to Ruiz though.

Joseph coasted a bit which he wont be able to do against (say) Joshua.

Some probably will when he (Parker) wins the next three belts.... but that's not a given by any stretch of the imagination at this stage.

I wouldn't even watch it if it were free.

The UFC is where the action is.

No they won't (except for some of you Noo Zeelers).
Boxing was ruined by that greedy cunt Don King and by the rise of the UFC and other MMA outfits. It is extremely rare to even hear a mention of boxing on the TV over here.

Best bit about the fight was a guy I work with who is into sports betting.

Put $1,000 on Parker a few months ago (at 1.3) when he thought Ruiz was a nobody.

Eventually he learned more, saw Ruiz had trained a lot, and took some ribbing from the other guys at work. Got very very nervous.

So just before the fight put $300 on Ruiz.

Not sure if coming out of it all with $0, is clever, or pointless.

I agree, back in the 70's-80's Boxing was massive with Ali/Foreman/Frazier/Holmes/Ken Norton etc then later with Tyson/Holyfield/Lewis/Marvin Hagler/Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran. Seen a lot of fights over the years, all free to view and no Boxer lost out on money because of it either.

UFC is tedious. I have watched a lot of gay porn and thats UFC? Grunting sweating dudes grabbing at each other.

I'm not a big fan of boxing but I was listening to Sport Radio this morning. They interviewed a guy called Thomas Hauser who has followed boxing over many decades, written some award-winning books on the subject and is apparently acknowledged to be one of the genuinely knowledgeable people. I was impressed that he didn't talk in cliches and backed up what he was saying with quite detailed explanations. Paraphrasing what he said, he reckoned that Parker wasn't anywhere near good enough to beat someone like Klitchco and was unlikely to become good enough either. He then went on to say that the current crop of world champion heavyweights are simply not in the same league as Ali, Frazier, Tyson and co. He puts it down to the proliferation of different world championship organisations. They're not about to unify to find one single champion as the current set-up is too much of a gravy train.

This is the interview: http://www.radiosport.co.nz/on-air/radio-sport-breakfast/audio/thomas-hauser-parker-as-a-world-champ-demeans-boxing/

Nah. You're just seeing what you want to see. Last weekends card UFC 206 had some sensational fights. Search for Swanson vs Choi. If that doesn't pique your interest then you're dead inside.

Dad left work early one Tuesday to watch a Tyson fight. Sat through an hour of dribble and intros, got up in the ads to make a cuppa and missed the fight.:weep::argh:

When he was on, he was on! When I lived in the UK, Naseem Hamed was the reigning champ in his division, holy fuck that guy was entertaining, he made Antony Mundine look like a quiet little stay at home!
