Did anybody else have a sense of wtf when watching the boy-racers being interviewed on Campbell Live tonight.
Statement of the programme was "they're reckless, they're dangerous, they get right up behind us and make us take corners at a faster speed than we want to... "
Talk about slack-jawed mouth-breathing lack-witted improvident oxygen thieves :spudwhat: :brick:

Yeah I sorta went 'well wtf'.
Some of them seemed like loosers, but the whole 'young people speeding' theme didn't work out when one of them was 30+ did it....
But it is intimidating when they go behind you up your arse in a cage so they can ping people coming the other way. I do think some cops can be a little to over enthusiastic in chases but who wouldn't really.
One weird thing today - was behind a cop (no radar) who was behind a cage and a truck in a 70k zone - we came to a roundabout, truck and car turn left and myself and the polli go straight, into the 100k zone. He guns it off (quick) and goes along doing 115+ with no lights or anything.... I get to 110 (following him) and don't go any faster. He then slowed down after about 30 seconds of this. Was that baiting?

a few years ago the speed limit used to be 80ks, holden comadores V8's were new to the cops,(think) i was leaving CHCH on my way to dunedin, said V8 with cop lights on pull out infront of me and sits on 80...90..110..130!!!... 140..... yep i was right behind him... he had no lights on, so i just followed... it was a nice sunny day and he was out for a hoon.....about 20ks down the road he suddenly slows..no break lights .. just buttoned off.
so i button off also... sure enough on go the lights...WANKER i thought... but he then turned them off and waved to me!!!! indicated right and .... sure enough parked on the side road in the midlle of nowhere was another cop... he pulled over and went to have a chat... well i tooted and waved THANKYOU.. and continued on my way ... at 120ks!!!...

hehe, nice little lead-in to my take on it... that could even be us you are talking about.
quite interesting when looking at the morons, thinking how they had such a huge bad rep (which they deserve) while comparatively we have little. The fast guys around here travel at speeds those hoons could only gape at, and would look far more impressive too
Then I really thought about it, and realised why. Yes, we do travel very quickly (well, those that have fast bikes and want to) BUT, we do not irritate communities (except for zorsts that set off alarms :devil2: ), we don't unnecessarily speed much in residential areas, and we play in the country mostly, where there are far less people about.
We are basically responsible hoons I reckon... (yes, there might be the odd majority that travel at speeds that could kill :Pokey: ). Sometimes I'm glad that very little is known about us "on the outside"

I saw a convoy of four marked police cars and one mufti driving up East Coast Road from Northcross to Silverdale way, I turned off soon after it becomes a 100kph zone but after leaving the intersection at Northcross the cop convoy was going sufficiently fast enough for a large gap to form between them and the cars I was behind doing 55kph. They must have been doing 65 - 75 kph I would guess. Oh btw, no sirens or disco lights.
I'm sure most cops are decent guys and not pricks, pity that it's only the pricks that seem to pull me over and give me shit.

What a bunch of idiots, I couldn't believe it when they tried to blame the cops for making them speed "the cops made me do it :crybaby: "
If you are being "pushed" but the cops to the point you are not comfortable then pull over?? If the cops are chasing you too closely, you’re not going to get away, give it up and pull over! Getting a fine seems allot better than killing yourself and your friends,
It seems to effect them all, I was shocked when that kid died in Hastings and his mates decided "pay a tribute" by doing burnouts and handbrake turns outside his funeral in front of his family?!?!?!

I wondered if there'd be a thread about this. I wondered if the media had carefully selected these guys to get their point across- Lets see, we had one guy whos eye's didn't point the same way, one who had huge horse teeth and looked like the top of his head had caved in, one normal looking guy, and some 30 year old looser who has to hang out with 'boys'. Hmmm. It would appear from what the 'boy racers' were saying, that the nasty cops scare them with their big flashing lights. Poor widdle fellas!
Apart from that, nothing else they said made any sense. Aparently the police aren't trying to apprehend these guys, oh no, they are trying to RACE them  The "winner" is the one who doesn't make a mistake leading to an accident, capture (in the boy racers case) or death. If the cop crashes, you "won". If the cop dies you "won". What was the comment Master Horseteeth made? someething like, if they can keep up with you then, yeh, they can drive, if they can't then they can't drive.
What pissed me off was TV3 pandering to this bullshit concept by repeatedly calling them "Racers"

I reckon it was very carefully edited to ensure that those boyracers came across like complete and utter flipping morons. Okay, sure, they may well have been, but I reckon the balancing comments they may have made could have been edited out for the extremism that is promoted for good TV.
The point I wished they could have got across is that the cops don't necessarily report the accurate information to comms, and they don't necessarily pull out when the say they do (or are told to). And if someone feeds me the bullshit that they don't do that anymore, that things have changed, I've got a couple of stories I wouldn't share publicly that give me reason to doubt it.
But really when you've got cretins driving like idiots, cops will chase. If they don't chase, then what's the friggin point in having cops? Chases are dangerous. No way to avoid that. Even attempting to stop someone is dangerous, because if they bolt, they don't back off just cos the cop turned his lights off and slowed down. The whole point of a pursuit is not to have fun, it's to get away with whatever you were doing wrong in the first place without any consequences. Unfortunately some people get too enthusiastic and end up crashing, which is usually a really bad consequence - much worse than the fines/disq you would have had to start with.
If I get chased, I don't EVER button off until I'm a LONG way down the road, or home. Which means a "pursuit" that officially lasts for all of 10 seconds (the time it takes a car to turn around and realise that they can't see the bike anymore) will have me going flat tack for probably 5 minutes until I'm long gone. So I off it 4.5 mins after the cop tried to pull me over and I'm doing 260k splitting cars. I don't ordinarily do 260k splitting cars. But if it's that or instant loss of license, I'll take the chances thank you. But even though I off it as a direct result of the cop trying to stop me, it's not their fault that I off it - it's mine.
These little cretins need to take responsiblity. You do the crime, and sooner or later you have to pay your dues. Don't blame the pigs. I blame the cops for plenty of things - perjury and for continuing very dangerous pursuits (contrary to what "procedure" says), but if I off it doing a runner, the responsibility lies with me... unless the cops take me out... :devil2:

Nice argument madboy, I think if your out there doing stupid things and get caught, once you decide to run what ever happens next is your fault, it's not "I crashed because the cops chased me to close" or "I crashed because the police didn't pull back and stop chasing me", it's "I crashed and killed my two friends because I was doing dumb things and then tried to run."
When I was growing up my father told me that being a man ment that I stood up for what I believed in and I took responsibility for my own actions, perhaps this is why they are still called "Boy"racers.

almost got knocked off by a bus today when turning right fucken boy racer in his hotted up bus decided to run an orange light nearly sideswiped a 4wd which i was following round the corner on the orange light as we'd got stuck out a bit from where the lines are while waiting for a gap to turn, gap opened on the orange light and the 4wd went then the dick in the bus floors it so i'm like 'fuck he's not stopping' slam on the brakes, bus driver doesn't even hesitate and barrels straight through narrowly missing both me and the 4wd that went, then i just casually drive round the corner as if nothing happened, but when i see three buses lined up going 40km/h up stuart street haha i got my own back dropped two gears and flew past them. cunts. Luckily he grew some driving skill just quickly enough to miss us both.
I take responsibility for my actions leading to my vehicle crashing into something/one. Something/one steps/pulls out in front of me that would have been a miss at the speed limit, but a crash while running, then that's my fault. But if I'm stationary, and the taxi I'm giving way to is stationary, I don't see how a Commodore going too fast to stop behind me is my responsibility. That's the driver of the Commodore's responsibility. He just happened to be a sargeant who perhaps shoulda known better.
I really do hope the new police procedures have sunk in, cos that was a very dangerous chase that particular one, both my actions and those of the cops. Speeds up to 180km/h into opposing traffic in a 50 zone, residential area at 5.30pm on a sunny Friday arvo. I've matured. I hope the Police have too. But if I was a betting man...
