Ok so I'm taking a punt there will be plenty of you out that hate ebays global shipping Centre and it's UPAA**** tracking number system (New experience for me). Long story short....how the f*** do we track our goods once out of the US of A? And better yet, who's the Frickn distributer for them in NZ? This is what I know, your goods once brought get sent to Erlanger KY to be sorted, packaged and sent on to you the buyer. You get email updates advising you throughout this process. You get a UPAAA******** tracking number *to track your goods apparently * but once it's been shipped off...Nothing it's in 'Transit'. No way of knowing when it's etc is into nz, who takes over delivery and no way of tracking here in nz. I've talked to NZ Post (International freight distributers) who use Courier Post as their errand boys bit they swear they know nothing. I've spoken to DHL: E-commerce who apparently can track any UPAA parcel leaving the states, turns out this is true only if your using DHL as your delivery boy.

So, has anyone ever found a way to actually track goods from off the ebay GSC UPAA**? An if so please share. Cheers.

I didn't have a chance to track my parcel last week - ordered on tuesday night, at my door friday morning, from New York, very impressive.

Get most of my eBay items shipped via the NZ Post (YouShop) warehouse in Portland. Great tracking and quick delivery. Have done most of my Xmas shopping this way - last parcel will be delivered home tomorrow :niceone:

a lot of ebay sellers offer several different methods of shipping if you ask.

Other options cost more, but if up to date, accurate tracking is a concern for you, pay the extra. Ive had stuff to my door from colorado in 3 days. No fluke, its happened a few times.

If you take the cheapest shipping option, you get the cheapest service all-round.

Ha! Funny you should mention that as they've just done the same for me! I'd ordered a shed load of stuff from different suppliers and couldn't reconcile my Visa card statement with having one item still to be sent from the warehouse. They photographed the invoice and opened the box and photographed the contents too. Turns out that the supplier had cocked up and sent the order twice! Good service by NZ Post. :Punk:

Ive had 6 parcels I think coming in, most disappear off the track then all of a sudden turn up. Not lost a thing yet.

I've ordered loads of stuff delivered through ebay global shipping - never really bothered with the tracking, though it's possible to get detailed tracking once it clears customs. Not that it matters, because the means it's a day away from your doorstep. I've always been happy with the ebay global shipping system - cheap and fast.

You gotta be new at this. Dunno why you're talking about the pain of overseas companies and their processes.

Let's focus on the NZ, which is far closer to being under some ability to be changed. It can take 3 days for a parcel to travel from Auckland Airport to East Tamaki. For one of my recent parcels CourierPost handles the end delivery. NZ Post had the tracking and International Mail Centre the clearance.

CourierPost didn't have it, NZ Post didn't know where it was and the Mail Centre said it had left them. They outsourced their trucks to... CourierPost. Auckland's mail version of the Bermuda Triangle...

Yeah, there's a way to do it but I can't remember as it was some time ago. Google knows.

And don't EVER use it again.

The US tracking system is only interested in tracking while in the US.

If you want it tracked the whole way, use a proper freight forwarder.

When the tracking updates disappear its usually getting billed up at customs, it can sit there for days and its the busy time of the year too.
I know the number to bump things along but not divulging it here, too many people already know it.

I'll bet it shows up from revzilla faster than if you had ordered the same item from within NZ. (and cheaper too:niceone:)

Not true......

yep I bought loads of things from ebay UPS tracking number alerts me via email that parcel has left each stage of the way and then lets me know when it's in the country, usually the biggest delay is getting parcel from Auckland to Wellington.

sometimes there is no tracking info because some Numpty didn't get the package into the mail at the state side and it's still sitting in a pile, the tracking numbers get activated when parcel is uplifted from seller by the postie , then it arrives at the mail distribution centers and you should get an update about that and then one when it's left whatever airport it's coming from then one when it enters NZ etc etc

having said that I have have had things show up with no tracking info. never been ripped off so don't panic just yet.

In my experience it has been, with the budget USPS option, once it's left the country they don't care any more.

Pay more you get better service, UPS or DHL etc.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I've seen things bounce around the states from depot to depot for a week before it finally leaves for NZ.

I've also ordered on the same day from the US and from Auckland, and the overseas stuff arrives first.

Wherever possible I buy from the UK, their first class postal service really is first class.

Because they transfer to the NZ agent. So my USPS shipment that flew out of the US has showed up on NZ Post tracking.

Just in case you haven't figured it out yet:
1. Login to My eBay.
2. Find the item in your purchase history.
3. Click on the UPAAA tracking number - it should be a link.
4. This should display a message showing the international carrier name with another link to the tracking info.

Except some are too stupid to figure that one out.

While i don't doubt that ebay's system is working for some - possibly even the majority - I'm hearing more stories of system failure than is comfortable. Ebay USA also are developing a reputation for evasive answers to enquiries about parcels or tracking.
One Aussie source says that ebay's freight arm is trying to monopolise the overseas parcel shipping business.
Whether this is true or not, it's probably worth paying the extra to get stuff sent via a single company which operates here.
