I will be doing my commute home to Akaroa, keen to see if anyone wants to tag along? We could probably go the long way through the summit road. I'm not particularly fast as I need to conserve fuel, especially on the flat. Depending on bike configuration we can take the stock route to the hilltop for more of a challenge and fewer campervans and flash slow moving SUV's.

Reply here if interested, I plan on leaving around 4:30 - 5 ish from Hornby, can wait a bit if this doesn't work for people.

No takers for the opportunity of being smoked out by a 2 stroke all the way to Akaroa?

Nah - who finishes work in time for a 4.30 meet!

Pity. Sounded like it had the makings of a pleasant ride.

I was hopeful, all keen for another evening ride at some point, maybe next week?

I'm keen for a fang about some gravel roads/stock roads/etc today, how far can you go on a tank? I'm limited to about 140km

I'm a bit busy today unfortunately. My range is probably 150km at most, less on hills and so forth.

...just a heads up for the Akaroa GP and those who just like to cruise...the lakeflies are back with a vengeance...big fat bastards full of green stuff...don't forget your wet wipes or a damp rag...

I can attest to that, my car is covered with them, doesn't seem to be every day, straight after a heavy rain for instance.

Yeah I got severely covered in them last Friday. Little buggers stink as well. In way too many years of riding that road I think it is the worst that I have experienced.

Going faster does not work either ....... they still get ya.
