A random thread for amusing news stories.... dumb and dumber people doing dumb stuff.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4235740/Millionaire-gameshow-winner-insurance-job-burglary.html

A builder who became a millionaire on an ITV gameshow has been cleared of burgling a client after claiming it was an insurance job devised by the customer, who he wanted to have sex with.

Nathan Hageman continued to work after winning the top prize on the Ant and Dec gameshow Red or Black in 2011, and was hired by Rebecca Varley to re-fit her bathroom.

The 37-year-old was acquitted of burglary at Reading Crown Court after telling how she approached him about an 'insurance job' burglary and went through with it to have sex her with.

Mr Hageman forced his way into the home in Crowthorne, Berkshire, along with apprentice scaffolder Nathan Taylor, were wearing masks and gloves, and carrying a ladder and crowbar.

The court heard how they took £8,000 in the safe

Prosecuting, Dickson Edwards said: 'Mr Taylor made a significant post at 9.15am on the Saturday asking if anyone had a disc-cutter which he needed to use ASAP.

'That weekend he purchased a Toyota Corolla with some £2,000 in cash. In addition he posted on Facebook a picture of an Apple iPad with the words "Treated myself".

If his idea of "Treating himself" was a 2000 quid Corolla and iPad, I would say life had gone downhill since becoming a millionaire on a gameshow.

I think that was the accomplice, the one described by judge as not the brains of the operation lol

"It's all fun and games until someone loses a testicle.

That's the crux of a criminal trial playing out in Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court, where a case of "sack whacking" has pitted two police officers against each other - one as the alleged assailant, the other the victim."

I suspect more like "killed by camera".

When people know there is a camera nearby, the incident rate increases dramatically. Seen it happen a few times.

Oh. Another idiot with access to social media.

Pepsi must have been overjoyed when United stepped up to take the bad publicity heat off them.

By now y'all will have seen the clip of the Doctor being dragged bleeding and screaming from a United Airlines 'plane. Our media are still saying the flight was overbooked, that wasn't the case. United wanted to off load four passengers so that they could fly a crew to St Louis for the next day. Last night our time Doctor Dao was still in hospital and has lawyered up.

Then a newspaper reported that the doctor had a troubled past. He had been struck off for issuing fraudulent prescriptions and for having sex with a patient but had subsequently been granted a licence to practice under supervision. It turns out though that the Doctor with the murky past is Dr David Anh Duy Dao The Dr on the plane was Dr David Thanh Duc Dao. "Provincial" news men evidently aren't up on their Vietnamese.

Pundits were guessing that the Dr would likely be getting ten million from the airline, there will now be millions more from the paper. By the time this is over the Dr will be able to afford his own bloody airplane.

Update:

The Daily Mail Australia are running this:

If that's gone global, and is the wrong guy, forget about him buying his own plane, he'll be able to buy his own airline. United might be going cheap?

Got taught this trick many years ago working in ga station in bad part of town, sole charge. Boss had front sliding deadlock door setup. "After you open up always leave the lock set engaged"
Because in a robbery or home invasion you may have opportunity to leave and additionally lock the offender inside.

Great to see it working in real life
