These android boxes you can get from eBay, do they really work? Do you have one / know someone that has one and it actually works? Can you really get basically Sky tv for free? Someone told me it's not Sky NZ, but Sky in Europe or somewhere, but I don't really care where it's from, as long as I can watch the V8 Supercars without getting bent over by Sky NZ. Plus the missus wouldn't mind the movies and stuff, and Discovery wouldn't go astray......

Anyway, should I get the one with the hard drive? I guess that means I can record stuff to it like a normal DVD recorder with hard drive?

Having a quick look - all they appear to be is a mini PC with an HDMI out and Network in, running a media centre of Android.

The idea being that by being Jailbroken - it isn't restricted to authorized Google Apps (allowing a wider spectrum of content, including possibly dodgy stuff)

Then it's a case of - if it is streamed over the internet, you can watch it on your TV.

I've got something sort of similar in that I have an old Laptop plugged into my TV and give Sky the boot a couple years ago.

There are times I wish I had sky, but then I remember the cost of the various packages and I quickly stop that.

I think you can stream the V8s from sites like this: https://www.supercars.com/superview/ but you would need a VPN to get around those pesky Geoblocks - however there are a number of cheap and reasonably good VPN providers.

If all of what I have said is greek to you - then I'd suggest giving it a miss.
