i know F all about lap timers. I see there are GPS ones which seem like a great idea but do they work well?

The dash is pretty reliable.:bleh:
I brought a dash and a whole loom icl a rave controller and a good 320mm disc the other day for $80.
Try doing that with an R1.

The ones with a button to push are not very accurate. GPS or transponder ones are the bizzo. Can't bullshit your mates at the pub though.

I have one of the infra red beacon jobbies, not sure of the brand cause the Mrs bought it for me (she also managed to buy me slicks, chest/back protector etc, without my assistance, I married a good'un) but it's been pretty good, personally on track I'd rather not be worried about hitting a button as I cross a line and the beacon is apparently quite accurate, matched the track timing pretty close.

Been offered a beacon one cheap, think I will go that way.

I have used the Race Chrono app on an old Samsung Phone. Free and rather good. I was usually within . 1 or 2 of the transponders at Manfield. Has sectors, top speeds, optimal lap time. I just velcroed the phone into the Faring out of the rain. Best bang for buck. Coz its free and it works.
