for some reason or other i have had a hankering for an old school single banger traillie.
something along the lines of an old XT 550 or Xl 600, only thing i can put it down to is they were the bikes of me youf. but there seem to be none about, well not the black and red 600 that i had, for that matter i haven't even seen the silver 500 like i used to have.

not gonna get one because i don't have a lot of places to ride off road and i would probably kill meself these days

if you are going to do more than look at them in the garage while drinking beer you'll be sorry.

Ha - yeah reminiscing about the good old days can be like that.

Problem is half the time when you spend the money and ride/drive it you are quite violently reminded about the past 20-30 years of brake and chassis development. Usually at the first emergency stop or fast corner ......

Odds are you wouldn't kill yourself riding it - but there's good odds on a heart attack starting it....

I found that when I bought a Ducati ST4s with the 996 donk I was horrified that the speedo read such licence loosing speeds so easily and it did not feel like it.
I only have 84 BHP of ability.

I had a quick ride on my mates Aprillia RSV4 (or summat like that), the most violent street bike I have ridden. More aggressive than I remember my RS125 being. Buggered if I could use it as a commuter like he does.

Ha - now you have me thinking - I should check the power curve on my Ducati - out of the claimed 134hp I suspect I regularly use 90+100 with the odd excursion into the 130's (under controlled conditions on closed roads you understand).

With 200hp being commonplace on the exotics you make a good point.

The 84 BHP is what my BMW R100 makes on the dyno. I can take it to redline of 7500 ( about 200 KMPH) up the hill at Hampton Downs.
I think my old Ducati 900 Superlight has a bit less but It fells like a lot more on the road.
A 50 BHP bike you can really run up thru the gears and still have some fun.
