Not sure what it is about MT09 owners in Wellington.
They always seem to want to race every bike they see.
Wonder if its a problem world wide.

Indeed, I think it's the type of bike that hooligans like to ride... :)
But you wont see me trying that sort of thing, never raced anybody, and never will.
Pointless waste of gas if you ask me...

Ive had the same. 2 of them out by the airport go nuts each time they see another rider. Odd.

Am I asking too much, or does nobody seem to want MT 09s?

...link only takes you to an expired listing...

It has been said that modifications generally depreciate the value of a bike which may explain the lack of interest you have.
Or, maybe the link has expired as ellipsis pointed out.

Cassina ...... must be true
And to the OP - tyres are not modifications - they are consumables.

modifications may not interest all. What is certain is that the full monetary value wont be returned, but may be the reason the bike is bought by someone.

Indeed it is a matter of taste and desirability.
A name brand aftermarket can is popular.
Pink flames not so.

Fair point, but I just thought id mention it as a selling point, as quality tyres are expensive, and that's just one less thing that needs changing anytime soon.
Appreciate all of the advice and opinions thus far guys, thanks <_<

It's like selling/buying a house... put in a new kitchen? House is more 'saleable' you wont get your money back.
The bike HAS to have an exhaust, bars, indicators, seat etc, yes you've changed them because YOU wanted them, not because the 'actually' improve the bike.
The two posters are BOTH right re 'buying a bike with mods'
some will not look at a modded bike unless they are known 'improvement' mods that are done by most owners to change a deficit of the design.
Certain people WILL look at a bike with your type of mods. Mods wont make it worth more tbh.

Yeah I understand what you're saying, and you're quite right about it, as I have pretty much experienced the above when selling any of my past vehicles (I haven't sold a vehicle that hasn't had a ton of mods).

Bang on mate, the optimistic sellers thread is full of characters trying to earn back the coin they sunk into a bike by adding it to the sale price. Funniest ones have around 10kms on them and are 2 years old and they're listing it for the same price as a new one...
Mods are a sale point but certainly don't increase the value.

I think the mods are ones that will make the bike a more attractive purchase option when the bike is not old. Its items that a perspective new bike owner would like but might push the new bike out of financial range. The only problem is that does not tend to equal more money in your pocket because they do not want it to cost them extra. With extras and a price equal to others on the market what you end up with is a bike that sells quickly not a bike that fetches a better return.
I looked at the other being sold and I think yours is the most likely to sell but change the lead photo to a full bike shot exhaust side taken from low down with no car behind it.

Interesting subject.
I modify mine - always have, personalising it I say.
The box of stock parts grows be it bars, tail tidies, pipes, indicators seat covers.... you know the drill.
When trading or selling it is easy to put back to stock and sell the goodies on TM.

I used to do the work including ecu programs and full exhaust system including sensor removal. Upgrades and and carbon this and that and rearsets.
Now its pipe and tail tidy. I call those a built in cost of buying a new bike. I even picked muffler from the do not need fueling alterations this time.

Yep, I also call these "essential mods" that I do to every single bike, so if a bike that I buy just happens to have those, well it's $$$$$ that I don't need to spend.

Say I was looking at 2 gixxer600s, both roughly the same ks and price, but one had a yoshi pipe and the other was stock, I know which one I would buy...

When people modify bikes/cars they generally do so to make them handle/look better for them rather than for any future purchaser.
Either read the "Optimistic Sellers" thread in these forums ... or do a troll through Trademe ... ;)
My thinking if the mods are $3500 that money would have been better spend on a better bike in the first place.
Don't think ... it only confuses you ... ;)

Try selling the stock parts separately ... either on this site or Trademe. (or elsewhere) ... maybe ... :corn:
