I was on my way to work on my bike..
okay so it was pedal power, not motorised (doing the fitness thing you know :headbang: ) and I was heading down the no-exit road next to Hillmorton hospital here in chch, heading toward the motorway.
A motorbike wizzed past me (GN250 i think or similar) and I watched his light fade into the distance, thinking to myself at the time.."oh he must work at the hospital, I'll have a nosy as i go past the car park....hmmm...hes not stopping there....hmmm wonder where he's going?...."
The the light vanishes for 5 seconds and then reappears.....
But this time I'm cracking up cos...
he has taken the pushbike underbridge under the motorway in front of me ....and I thought...WAY COOL MAN! :niceone:
Yep checked when I FINALLY got there (damn it is a long road) and there is definately enough room to get a bike (admittedly not too big a bike) through the space....damn handy!

so now filing that little bit of interesting info away for future reference

some years ago there was an alleyway pst work that was a shortcut into town. It had one of those galvanised pipe barriers to stop cages and the like from driving through or whatever and we had a Honda Melody as a delivery type bike . I found that if I practically sat in the foot well of the scooter I could zip under the barriers as long as I kept my head down and save a couple of minutes when I stole it to get my lunch. How irresponsible

yeah I thought that too at first... but then i thought , well why not? It doesn't actually say only pedal power. But yeah he will probably scare the heebiegeebies outa me if I see him coming thru there at me!

I see your typing is as good as mine Ms Fish ;)

People on pushies can be ANGRY too. Old (push)bike mechanic recommended throwing one's treadly against offending automobiles repetedly upon getting the 'Sorry, I just didn't see ya...' line.

:headbang: oh yeah is for sure...especially on those 'so-called' cycle lanes around christchurch.
I mean to say IF I was foolish enough to venture within 1/2 metre of the outside of my cycle lane I would get all sorts of bullshit from drivers, if not be dead to boot....scary being on a bike at times, at least on a motorised one I can try to get outa the way ...mostly anyway :argh:

If he hasn't got an engine, he doesn't count.

That's fighting talk Lou!

My love of 2 wheels grows from my collection of pushies...I have 3 of them, and no space...

Looks like a gate has appeared recently to slow down the most direct route through, but maybe there will be a large enough gap to fit my bike..

I will have to go fast enough to avoid the video cameras though :-)

at one set of lights in town i periodically find a way around them at nights, simply cos the bike isnt heavy enough to trip them so they go green. theres a kind of car parking side road thingy so tourists can get to the top of the hill i live on, so i usually slip though that way. no doubt illegal somewheres, but its better than running a red light or sitting for ages waiting for a car to come up behind me]

*Phurrball ponders the oddly-conical cap he is wearing, wondering if it is in fact his pedant cap, then muses on the nature of glasshouses, and whether the observer effect of quantum physics has a role in the phenomena surrounding a certain spatially postulated maxim regarding projectile motion, and a clear, silica based form of glazing...*

Frustration is wrought from those that are capable, but make no discernable effort; rather than those who strive, but fall short of the mark...

Rep duly awarded my Piscean friend...
