I have a RS125 rear wheel with a rather large dent in the rim that I would like to save if possible. After a quick search Royce Clive engineering and Elite wheel company are interesting but there site's don't say if they do motorcycles are there any other outfits in chch I should be checking out?

Try Elite - I've seen their car work - it was excellent.
If they say it cannot be fixed I'd propose it is a paperweight.
Now that's an impressive dent - do tell how it happened.

Elite have repaired a bike wheel for me before, I was happy with their work.

Mag race wheels are a tad different from the usual commercial work. I've recovered a Dented marvic with a soft faced hammer and shaped wood blocks.
Can't tell from the pic if any welding is needed, but if it is, it's easier if it's already straightened.
For the final checking a lathe and a dial gauge are needed. Garth got one big enough ?
Who did you run over ?

Thanks for all the replies. It happened at Ruapuna last saturday , Olly left his bucket at a most inconvenient place on the main straight and I believe the actual dent was created after the bike somersaulted through the air and the rim was the first thing to hit the ground based on the bits of tarseal I found between the tyre and the rim.

Tony Thorpe is now out your way - between Rga and Oxford. Worth asking him if you don't want to have a go yourself.

Yep, I'm impressed with that rim as well, not that it helps, you could take it off and weld cleats on it and take it to hill climbs.

Well in the end I went with Tony Thorpe engineering because grumph is quite fussy with who he uses and kickaha had him repair a wheel years ago and was happy with it but mainly because his workshop is a 6 minute drive from my place.

Got a nice setup out there now. Prepared to do unusual stuff too, as he's not under time pressure these days.

He actually finish it last week but I only got out there today. Tony is easy to deal with and he has all kinds of things on the go like what looks like a RX7 body shell being straighten out and a diff being build into a top of a windmill like setup. He charged $140 which I don't think is too bad as he must of spend a couple of hours on it and I don't think I could get another early model Honda RS125 rear wheel for that.
