Hi guys just joined, at the moment I have an Aprilia RSVR1000 but its still in aussie 'sniff' and my YZ490 is in a sad state as ive been pouring money into a mk2 escort, bloody money pit. I have started to strip the YZ for a full restore and found 2 of the 6 fingers on the clutch basket are damaged, I have repaired them but if anyone has or knows of a spare I would be alot happier. Ive had the YZ since i was 16, and well lets just say im alot more over the hill than i would like. I bought the 490 after falling off my yz125 (yes i was being a dick) and got 2 pins in my hip, the Doctor told me to sell my bike and move on, which i did, i moved onto the bigest 2 stroke MX bike i could find, then fully kitted it so it was just mad. Once bikes are in your blood its for life!!! Needles to say after finishing my apprenticeship i got the itch to do the big OE, so the bike lived on my parents farm in a dark shed not to see light for 15 years. Second day i was back on the farm i pulled it out, changed the oil and gave the carb a good clean, gave her some nice fresh fuel and proceeded to wreck my shoes kick starting it and breaking the kick return spring...a few more kicks it fired, pushed the choke in and one more kick and it lived once again. I SLOWLY when up our long driveway and just clicked trough the gears till it was warm then i spent the next 5 minutes scaring myself half to death, when i got home i was literally shaking, how the hell i didn't kill myself when i was a teen i know not, But god it was fun. I'm wondering, should i leave the boysen reads n rad, wiseco piston plus pro circuit pipe renthal bars blah blah or should i bring it back to original specs, what do you guys think???? I was thinking leave the bits ya cant see and go orig for the rest...prolly should take the 125 stickes i put on the swing arm off hehhe.:laugh:
