Greetings,

Due to the non-availability of online manuals or even book manuals, I've had a bit of trouble finding out the torque settings for the head on my NZ-250.
I need this as I'm about to pull the engine out to install a new head gasket.
The bike shops aren't that helpful, as they're not really going to benefit from giving out free advice.

I believe the engine is damn near identical to the DR-Z250 but can't seem to find any specific engine info on them either.

Can anyone help, please?

Cheers
Chris

Okay. I got this from a helpful chap named Pete at ThumperTalk.com

"The head bolts tighten in a diagonal pattern, two torques. 18 ft. lbs. on the first pass and 30.5 ft. lbs. the second time, again in a diagonal pattern. These are the specs on the '03 DR-Z250"

The engines are the same save for (I think) an extra exhaust port, hotter cams and about 3 more hp on the NZ-250.

Cheers

Torque up until the head develops a crack then back it off half a turn.

Sadly these heads are prone to cracking, so might be worth looking closely as to why it is leaking.

Yes I have heard that. I shall check it very carefully indeed.
Do you know where abouts the weakness is ? eg valve to valve or valve to spark plug hole?
