Ive had 2 bikes tuned by Brett at BRM Motorcycles on his dyno.
Very happy with the work, both bikes have had a great improvement in ridability and power. He is also much cheaper than others I have got prices from.
He goes through the results with you and shows what he has done.
I would recommend him highly. :woohoo:

I've seen dyno sheets pop on Facebook some times it's quite impressive how much hp he can get out highly strung engines. He managed to get a fair bit out of an h 2 r.

Depends on the bike/brand. My GSX1250Fa he flashed the ECU and the Gixxer I had a power commander in.

I'm interested in getting a remap, and possibly some dyno time, but the prices charged seem exhorbitant.
What sort of money does he charge?

My gixxer with a power commander was $280. My Bandit with a flash was $600. Bandit has a odd ecu or something and I have to buy something to make it work. He spent most of a day on it as it was not easy. Others I asked were $800 for a bike with a power commander.

From a power gain point of view, people are happy spending $600+ on an end pipe to maybe gain 3-4hp. I spent the same at a dyno tuner here in ChCH, got 15hp and more torque across the entire rev range above 4000rpm. Money well spent in my opinion.

The Gixxer was a pig around town and fluffy at the top end. Much better after the tune. More power in the mid. 1250 has become a beast. Happy days.
My new CBR is going in next week. :shifty: Im hoping for many horse powers.

Brett's dyno isn't one of the higher reading ones. But really, who cares about the exact number, as the curve and improvements are the real focus.
I think my 04 ZX10R was about 140hp. He had to do 2 maps for me, and I switched between them in the PCIII based on whether the baffle was in or not. Baffle in, there was a hole he couldn't tune out, baffle out, no hole, plus a few more hp.
edit: Hot damn, still have all the data from fark, 9.5 years ago. Wasn't 140, it was 154 and 157. Say hi to Brett :wavey:

Tuning out the stupid Euro emisions shit so the bike can run like the engine designers really wanted.
Must be a shit of a job for a engine designer - they build a ace engine, then are given a set of compliance restrictions it must meet :crazy:

Interesting topic, tuning... I get how it works, and I understand the appeal for some specific purposes. Maybe I'm lazy, but beyond keeping a bike serviced properly and maybe a K & N air filter, I've generally just bought enough horsepower in a stock machine.
Makes me wonder though, how much of an improvement I could achieve in my Busa, whilst maintaining the current smooth rideability? Something to ponder over winter...:drool:

A lot of modern bikes are set for best emissions. Not best ridability. My 750 was a pig at slow speed stuff. Obviously thats not what its designed for. Dyno only found a few HP up top but the bike is better to ride everywhere.
1250 was really cleaned up. Its was rich and lean all over the place. Again much better to ride now.
Now if you have fitted a K&N you have leaned the bike out.

He just popped around to my place. He picked up the GSXR so it can be stripped over the next few days for a complete rebuild ready for Bonneville. 5 weeks it has to be ready to ship.

I went to a gsxr600 after 1l bikes for something I can rev out and have fun with. I don't want a lot more power, I'm already going to hear it down, but a couple more hp and crisper throttle would be just the ticket.

I got my CBR1000rr done. Turn that bloody fuel cut off that made the thing a pig to modulate at lower rpm. Its really smooth now.
He found 8hp and got it up to 164hp. :yes:

121hp at the wheel. Stock they seem to run 93. Kicker was the torque, 90ftlbs.
Runs soooooo much better. Kept the smooth power just a lot more of it.

Spec is airbox cover removed, K&N filter, Secondry butterflys removed ( if you get a flash you dont need to do this.), Arrow headers.
Also has Ohlins, quick shifter, fork brace, gold valves in the forks etc etc. makes for an epic bike.

Whatup, long time.
This guy got any experience tuning link ECU's? A lot of car guys have but not sure if I trust them on a bike with the amount of money and years I've sunk into my build.
Sounds like a good guy to go to. Hopefully I have an engine this year... It's already been at the reconditioner for 13 months.

Was working overseas for the last seven months. Massive delays with parts and ended up modifying the build a bit more. I'm in no rush to be honest. I've only ridden a motorcycle three times in the last two years and it's starting to get to me.
Really looking forward to getting the motor back. Means I finally get to weld something. Want to make the most of my big turbo
