Sooooo, I have a frame with a running engine but with a bung sidecover stripped drain bolt, and smokes more than a yz, so am wanting either a engine, or whole bike (something not too nice)
cheers :woohoo:

Bung side cover that brings back memories bolt and a couple of washers:lol:
Never seen a XL of that vintage that wasn't missing the end of the toolbox either.
Think the XR's had the pouch didn't they?
Good luck

There is a Xr500 thread that includes the 250's as well.

The CB250 is a 5 speed and has a slightly different LH side cover and stator + different engine cases, The XL XR are 6 speed I think.
top ends will swap around, cranks are ever so sligtley different in the flywheel shape but will swap.
I use to have pipes and piles of this stuff.

...Yes really...more too... you seem keen and enthusiastic and that's enough...you probably know who I am but mistook me for just another silly old prick from up in LR ...but you're wrong if that's the case...I'm a silly old prick with lots of Honda parts, up in LR...Ask your mum where Maggie lives and then come and get it and check out some other stuff...

I love this thread. I can remember when I thought this was possibly the best bike ever.
Have still never owned one, but possibly have the grown up version. A BMW r1200gs

I had always admired them, but when a neighbour said they had one lying around i jumped on it! Nothing beats them my one is so butchered but still runs like a champ!
i would love to see a crf250x running in 35 years from now
